This tour can be done if you have a long layover in Beijing. It takes about 5 hours minimum, including travel to and from the airport. Very much worth it, and one of the best preserved sections of the Great Wall.

The views and the magnitude of the wall are amazing. The gondola ride makes the trip easier. Be aware that the walk on the wall can get very steep, and expect to pay very inflated (10x) prices at the shops.

The ski lift was slightly questionable in terms of safety but we absolutely loved the experience! We loved the slide so much we briefly considered riding it again but then realized we would have to do the ski lift again!

Mutianyu is a section of the Great Wall of China located in Huairou District. We went there early in the morning, less crowded and got nice view from cable car. You can also choose to come down by toboggan slide.

Traveled to Mutianyu from central Beijing (Wangfujing) by cab. We got it on tripadvisor and it cost us $85 per head (drop and pick up only, no guide). We saw the same thing being offered in the city for $100 for a car. The guy...More
