This place is a gigantic 5 story "mall." I put mall in quotes because each store is fairly small, some just the size of a stall and not exactly a full size store. Each floor has a theme. For example, the basement is where you...More

Unsolicited I asked my guide (so no commission) about the difference between Pearl Market (elsewhere in Beijing) & this Silk Market. Main difference is that here the bargaining is low pressure and they don’t come after you if you keep walking 🚶. You can find...More

We visited the Silk Market on a visit to Beijing. It's a five story fashion mall known for purses, watches, scarves and shoes. They also have many dealers carrying Chinese fashion. They have custom tailors too, along with shops to buy napkins and placemats. They...More

I visited here against my better judgement. I got off the train because I remembered I had listed it as a place to visit, but while I was there, I found out that the items offered are more high end in some stores, but most...More

Id you're after a bargain this place is worth a look. Have in mind what you think the item is worth to you, the prices that they will quote you are astronomical but you can you probably buy it for 20% of their first price....More

As others have said, approach it for what it is and don’t take yourself too seriously and it can be enjoyable. With five floors of shops there is something for everyone and you learn the art of haggling quite quickly. In general I would say...More

Great fun if you like to haggle and are willing to have a laugh. If you go, take your time, each level specialises in different things: suitcases, bags and shoes B1 etc. Check the quality carefully and if you are happy to pay a certain...More

My teenagers and I were excited to go to the new market. Unfortunately for them, they didn’t like the bartering and people trying to get their attention. Still, we did buy a few knockoffs. Amidst all the fakes, the jade and pearls are the real...More

Include this in your itinerary for a non-cultural experience. Decide who will be good cop and bad cop before you arrive because a lot of haggling is needed to get your items. There is shop after shop of knock off purses, sunglasses, scarves, luggage, electronics,...More

I'm not sure about plus sizes. The Silk Market has plenty of custom tailors. You might check them out.

Yes, even if it depends on the jacket model. Be aware that you could also find jacket looks similar to a Burberry jacket( same style!).
