- Christian MCopenhagen, Denmark6,101 contributionsA Nice View of the Forbidden City’s RoofsThe park is said to be especially worth visiting in the morning when there’s tai chi and a charming local life. Later in the day, when we visited, the main attraction is to hike up the park’s small hill (takes no more than 10 minutes) and enjoy the view over to the Forbidden City. However, it's mostly the roofs that you can get a decent picture of.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 June 2024
- Ltravel88United States121 contributionsMagnificent views of Forbidden CityThe views of Forbidden City from Wanchun Pavilion at this park were amazing; it was definitely worth the time to go to Jingshan Park. In fact I found it to be such a lovely park it would have been nice to spend more time there. We climbed up to two pavilions of the five and saw a nice bonsai collection. There is a gift shop that had very unique items I hadn't seen anywhere else though pricey.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 31 July 2024

The flowers and small plants stand out especially. The grand finale at Jingshan park is the Birds Eye view of Beijing. This park was built on the debris excavated when the moat surrounding the Forbidden City was dug many years ago. Since that time it has become overgrown with mature trees and there are numerous paths you can stroll on. At the very top of the highest hill there is a small building from which you can get a great view of the Forbidden City to the South and Olympic Park to the North. It seems to be a favorite for photographers. Definitely a beautiful place to relax and get a 360 degree view of Beijing.

The park is just behind the Forbidden City.
It is a very typical Chinese style park, which means it is well cared for and laid out very well. The temples are typical in the Chinese style, as you will see in hundreds of places, but still nice. The view of the Forbidden City and the rest of Beijing is why you come to the park and make the climb, it is the highest ground in BJ. It is not a huge park and will take you only a short period of time to walk around, but you can easily spend much longer wandering and exploring. Admission was 2RMB, needed to show our passports to get tickets. Likely nice place to view sunrise and sunsets. Certainly worth the visit.

The park is not big at all; you can walk around it in about 15 minutes at a leisurely pace, but it’s worth a look into it for the cool view from above of the Forbidden City. There is a nominal fee of 2 yuan for entry. There's not much to see other than flowers and views.

After we exited from the Forbidden Palace, we crossed the road and directly in front of the exit is Jingshan Park. Climbed to the top and we were rewarded with a complete view of the Forbidden Palace in front of us. However, you may need to jostle for space to the take the 'perfect' photo as there were many tourists. Worth the climb however tired we may be after visiting the Forbidden Palace.

If you go to the palace museum, then you enter one way and exit the other. I know you are tired because of the walking, but when are you going to be in China again. Walk across the street and go here and climb to the top. You get a view of the whole forbidden city, which is spectacular! Do not overlook this!

There is much to see at Jingshan Park. On this visit we walked the zigzagging paths, enjoyed the flowers in the gardens, walked to the hilltop for the awesome views of the Forbidden City, and visited a temple.

Good Day
Will this park close like most other public tourist places in Beijing do to coronavirus?
Written 25 January 2020
This park is not closed but there’s a possibility it will be closed since you need to buy tickets to get in. Forbidden City was closed.

As it’s downtown and touristic attraction I would go to some small streets just few hundred meter away

Can i rent a bike nearby and ride in Jingshan park?
Written 10 February 2015
Hi Daisy, there are bicycle rental companies, like Bike Beijing and the others, but Beijing does not allow riding in the parks. If you want to ride a comfortable tour around town and learn what's going on: check in on WanLin Bicycle Tours and join one of the tours they have. They provide bicycles and show you around. Have fun in Beijing!
