Dashilan street is crowded ground level shoping street where lies some of most traditional Beijing shops. It is worth for short visit. Don't get confused between Dashilan and Qianmen street. Qianmen is wide shopping street front od Zheng Yang gate and goes Notrh to South direction, Dashilan is East to west direction.

This is one of the last authentic Hutongs ( neighborhoord) where people still live in. There are some chill little restaurants and quaint little shops. Explore the side streets, there is so much to see, observe the local life.

This is the most peaceful place to visit, to live, or to spend a whole life. People do not smile much, but many happy faces, people not very polite as seen in western cities' "fake NICE", but very helpful, though not everybody or every time... Many people dress pro western, but they are still typical eastern. I like everything in this "front gate" of Beijing. Here I breath a days of fresh air, when you stuck in the fake freedom fake democracy air of London or other western cities for too long.

Quite a few time honoured brands selling things such as tea, medicine, shoes and more.

There is one building, 商业文化老街 (Commercial Cultural Old street(?)), which has many stalls selling interesting stuffs and souvenirs whereby you cannot find in other streets in Beijing.

This area has been recently renovated to reflect the historic buildings and cultural aspects of “middle age” Chinese lifestyle. Definitely worth to visit.

It's a combination of old and modern buildings. On the way will pass by modern designed building. Then, take a turn, the local old shops are along the street. A lot of souvenirs to shop which are in budget price. There's a food street selling various types of food or snacks which you can see everywhere in China/ Beijing. Highly recommended!

Dashilan (or Dashilar) is a famous shopping street within Qianmen, which comprises of many small businesses and peddlers clustered together within a "hutong" (i.e. small lanes or alleys). You can buy all sorts of items ranging from clothing and shoes to souvenirs and of course, street food and snacks, at reasonable prices. Plus, you can also haggle with some of these peddlers as well when buying things like souvenirs and memorabilia.
