The royal tombs are a short distance outside the city. Hundreds of small stone animals guard the road to the tombs.

If you're travelling to the Great Wall, you would be silly not to stop off at the Tombs on the way. Really, if you're heading that way anyways, why not?! There isn't a lot to see or do here, but it's steeped in cultural significance...More

We did not go to the tombs, only had time to walk the Sacred Way. After the craziness of the Great Wall and the massive crowds, this place was a breath of fresh air and very peaceful. The statues were as we expected. To be...More

A good stop off on the way to the wall. To understand Chinese culture one needs to appreciate their history, and one of the ways of doing this is by immersing self in the history of the Ming tombs. Would recommend a local guide to...More

We stopped here on our way to the Great Wall. Frankly, there is not a lot to see here, but you can sample parts of Chinese history and culture. They feature some interesting artifacts and there is a large gift shop.

Again and I am sorry but most of what I saw in Beijing were old buildings and after I came out of these places there were people everywhere selling stuff.

Tombs of 13 emperors from Ming dynasty, about two them accessible for public. Nice, but not a must see, especially if you have already seen or plan to see Forbidden City. Visits are usually combined with a trip to the Great Wall.

We joined the Badaling tour of Great Wall cuz it included the Ming tombs. 35yrs ago we went to the underground tomb and when I asked the guide why we were not shown (organized by the travel bureau at Beijing Int'l hotel) he said it...More

Agree with other answers - there stairs but still lots to see and enjoy without having to climb stairs. It is worth the visit and is a lot quieter and less crowded than other attractions.
