We had this on our bucket list. to see and climb on the Great Wall is a grand experience. Chairman Mao, said if you have not walked on the wall, you are not a man.

It was very interesting, though get ready for crowds. Definitely worth the visit and worth the climb.

We were taken here while on a tour so wasn't our choice. I understand this is a less popular choice of great wall sites. This is really well restored! Thr climb is very steep with uneven steps, but you will be amazed and how many attempt it and go all the way. The view from top parts is incredible!
When we were there it was fairly busy, so i can only imagine the other sites as this is meant to be quieter than others.

Pinggu Jiangjunguan Great Wall - A well preserved section of the wall, and that too very less crowded.

The Great Wall is one of those bucket list items. The walk was difficult but exhilarating. I did not realize just how steep of a climb it was, but my travel to about the third tower was well worth it.

Jiangjunguan Great Wall is a section that isn't nearly as crowded as Badaling but still easily accessible to Beijing. I've been to three sections of the Wall and this was the steepest and the least crowded. In fact, at the end of a very nice day in October, we were the only people on the wall~even the shops closed at 5:00 and everyone went home. We continued the climb and returned from a three or four section climb at about 6:00. It is steep and be sure to bring water if it is a warm day. This almost vacant section was a nice change from Badaling, where most westerners visit the wall. Badaling can be extremely crowded and it can be stressful. You miss some of the peace and serenity that can be found on the less visited sections of the wall.

Climb as high as you can and enjoy the immense panoramic views and imagine the lives that built this wall. A nice area to rest, shop, and eat. A bit of a bus ride to arrive at the entrance but well worth it. Enjoyed the glimpses of village life along the way

Impressive physical efforts to construct something visible from the moon, but never worked. So many pushy locals make it impossible to move through the choke points without behaving like them.

Built a few years(joking) ago!
I looked in wonderment, how did this structure evolve such a long time ago, and still be standing in reasonably good condition( this section)
But looking at it from a 21st century outlook, how can you manoeuvre troops in a hurry up and down stairs, and defend at the same time, feel sorry for the foot soldier!!!!
But, not my problem, just observing!
A WONDER OF THE WORLD, YES!!!!!!

The views are more spectacular and you can hike on the undeveloped parts of the wall here for quite a distance. The first time I was here was before the olympics and you could actually camp on the wall and have food brought up from the small village. Now the small village has been displaced and there is a tourist hotel and shops in its place, but it is still a spectacular view and a great experience - but note that once you are off the restored part of the wall, the hiking is tough, but uneven and missing steps - you should be prepared for some effort but you don't have to go too far to feel like you have gotten away from the tourist hustle and bustle.
