Great and very tranquil place to visit. Shows diversity in the centre of the city. Loads of halal food to eat around the local area.

on the way to the mosque, you will see a lot of muslem restaurants, long queues will attract your attention. you will be greeted politely by the the people. the mosque itself is a big one, and contains all the items of a proper mosque. may be the only place in beijing that you will not hear any loud voices. the spirit and the lovely smell of the place are unique. if you are a muslem, you will be extremely happy visiting this great mosque.

The mosque is situated about 5mins walk from the bus stop. As we walked in we were greeted and treated very politely. The courtyard is absolutely beautiful, clean and very peaceful. The architecture is amazing, very colorful and the whole atmosphere is tranquil. I would definitely go there again should I go back to Beijing.

This ancient mosque is a must for Friday prayers for visiting Moslems. For those who are used to listening to the sermon in Arabic or their own language (non Chinese speakers) will find it fascinating that the sermon is in Chinese and the Arabic phrases the imam reads out is also heavily accented. It doesn't feel like a"traditional"mosque as the architecture is not moorish but Chinese so it even resembles a Chinese temple. Across the street is a well stocked Moslem supermarket which has a good selection of halal foodstuff.Next to the supermarket is a hotpot restaurant....simply fantastic.Thin slices of meat are quick blanched in a pot at your table and served with a variety of vegetables and dipping sauces. As the choices of meats are wide its best to have at least 4 persons for this meal so you can enjoy a variety of meats.Getting to the mosque by taxi isn't a problem but getting a taxi out may take a bit of time.Walk out to the main trunk road about 5 minutes from the restaurant to increase your chances of getting a taxi. For Friday prayers try to get there before 11.30am. You will see the older folk coming to the mosque in their motorised wheelchairs. Some are real hell drivers!!! Most of these old folks are in their 80s. After Friday prayers there are many people outside asking for alms. Have some money handy to give to them....be charitable!

Normally visitors go to Beijing to visit Great Wall and some other places. But in my view this mosque can be another place to visit. Located in Ox street near Guang'an Gate in Beijing. Ox street Mosque is the longest and the most magnificent ancient mosque in Beijing.

I went to see this mosque and said my Juma prayer (held on Friday at 1:30PM local time) during my Beijing layover on Dec 6, 2019. It was amazing to see how 1000 years ago, some muslim reached here and built the mosque (though it's not the same mosque that was built 1000 years ago). I felt very spiritual and also lost in the history while in the Mosque. Outside of the mosque, I was able to find quite a few places to eat halal food. I definitely recommend anyone to visit this unique mosque and eat some halal food from nearby restaurants.

The Niujie mosque is a very interesting place in Beijing. During the long history of Beijing there were many groups and believes arriving a the capital of the kingdom of the middle. The Muslim arrived also here and this old complex (started 996 ac) is interesting discover.
The small size still offer plentiful details to observe. The style is strongly influenced by the traditional Chinese architecture. It is an active religious center so even if the heat of Beijing invite you to wear shorts or other skimpy attire please refrain here. The prayer hall is not open to non Muslim.
The peace in the courtyard invite you to sit and rest for a moment forgetting the hustle of a metropolis like Beijing. In the backyard there are some 13 century tombs from imams. The street is known for its Muslim food so keep an eye open for restaurants or food shops.

I visited the mosque as a non-Muslim visitor. Admission is 5 Chinese dollars (About US$1), and I think it is well worth it!
This mosque has traditional Chinese buildings, nothing conventional Islamic is found on the exteriors. I didn’t get to visit the inside of the mosque because no visitor is allowed. From the outside, if it were not the Persian writing on some of the flying buttresses, I wouldn’t know I’m at a mosque. Really amazing traditional Chinese architecture!
Come in the afternoon around 4pm (Dec 2017), and one would catch an amazing piece of sunset at the mosque. Good picture op!
Be respectful :) It is a working religious site.
Recommend time to spend - for non-believers, 30-45 minutes.
PS: female bathroom is located in the female quarter, FAR in the back!

Not very big but nice and quiet. Nice to visit in the spring. Worth a visit if you are in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.

I would like to know the Friday Khutba and Prayer timings at this mosque. I am planning to visit on Friday, January 27, 2017.
Written 5 January 2017
Sorry, I did not see your message earlier. I cannot give you exact time. But, if you go there by 1:15 pm, you will surely catch the Khutba (and definitely jumma prayer also).
