Built around early 1400's,and used by Ming/Wing dynaties it was used to offer sacrifices to their ancestors. It seems small is not a word in the Chinese language.Supposedly the largest building of its type in the world.

It is next door to Forbidden City, it was built in the same time actually. Don't judge it by its name. I went there in a Saturday morning. It is peaceful like all the Chinese parks and gardens. But be prepared for half of the...More

Far less crowded (actually we were the only tourists with a few bridal couples for company) than the Forbidden City allowing you the space and time to appreciate the architecture. It is set in a beautiful park which makes for an enjoyable stroll.

We loved it here--not near the same amount of people that were swarming through the Forbidden City and yet it's equally as nice (if not nicer due to fewer people). Peaceful with a lot of green space, tranquil and just very enjoyable.

So much better than visiting the Forbidden Palace, same style of buildings but there is no one there other than brides getting their wedding photos done. There is some greenery and you can actually go into one of the buildings ( only time we were...More

Arriving just after opening time, we enjoyed a grand visit to this great complex of palaces and parkland that was relatively devoid of visitors. Groups of men and women were doing their dancing steps and exercises to the accompaniment of delightful music. Originally the Emperor's...More

This park/palace did not hit my radar at all while I was researching my Beijing trip and I stumbled on it by accident. However, it deserves to be more highly rated. I found the temple buildings, halls, shrines and plaza areas to be as nice...More

It was a quieter tourist site. It was a wonderful site to walk around and enjoy. It was not super crowded. Great starting point to get a feel for Beijing and of the Forbidden City.

It is a small version of the Forbidden City, only RMB15! If you're not interested in the palace, it cost only RMB2 for the park! I don't know why no guided tours offering to come this place. It was built in Ming Dynasty as the...More
