She tried different lenses to check which one suit me the best, she's not pushy to sell but will give options. I tried on many different kinds of glasses and finally settled on a very safe neutral pair haha. She said if any problems just text her. I totally recommend Annas expertise!Visited March 2024Travelled soloWritten 2 March 2024
- Earl DaxBrooklyn, New York1 contributionBelieve the reviews... Anna's shop is Fantastic!I followed the reviews here that mention Anna's shop on the third floor, stall CC08. I had a pair of glasses with lenses that were extremely scratched. Anna greeted me warmly, and she spoke very good English. She said she could replace my lenses for 100 Yuan ($14 USD). I had another pair of glasses with broken frames, though the lenses were quite good. Anna told me I could replace the scratched lenses in my good frames with the clear lenses from the broken frames. Great! Not only did she replace the lenses, she didn't charge me a penny! "Are you sure?" I asked in disbelief. "Yes," she smiled. She also provided me a free exam for progressive lenses. I found a pair of handmade Italian frames designed in Berlin for 300 Yuan ($42 USD), and the progressive lenses with transitional tinting were 350 Yuan ($50). A pair of progressive, transitional glasses in designer frames for under $100 USD!?!? Unheard of. Great shop. Great services. Low prices. I'll be back.Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 28 April 2024

I’m embarrassed to say that my husband and I got 7 pairs of verifocals between us. After being so pleased with how fantastic my first pairs were I quickly went back to get more pairs before coming home. I have never seen so well and her frames are stylish and good quality. Easy to get to. Either by taxi or the very easy to use metro.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 June 2024
- Japes366London, United Kingdom2 contributionsAnna is amazing - great selection, expert guidance, from eye test to frame choice, fluent English, great price.Anna’s store is worth hunting for. I needed some decent replacements while in Beijing for work and I found exactly what I needed. Simple lenses can be arranged while you wait. Varifocal (progressive) lenses were ready in 3 days and delivered to my hotel at no charge. Prices so good I didn’t bother negotiating.Visited July 2024Travelled on businessWritten 30 July 2024

Anna speaks good English, so no problem if your Chinese isn't great. I had my eyes tested, and got the frames I wanted with the lenses I needed within an hour. Two pairs (one for reading, one for computer work) I took away with me. Two pairs of combined reading and computer lenses will be delivered to my office next week. Very friendly, fast and efficient service. I would recommend.

I have been visiting Anna’s glasses shop since February of 2023. Since my first visit, I have bought several pairs of glasses from Anna. She is hardworking, kind and helpful. The glasses she sells come in many varieties. Every time I visit, I buy at least two pairs of new glasses. Anna can have glasses delivered to your home, if that’s more convenient. If you don’t speak Chinese, don’t worry- Anna’s English is very good.

Glasses City is a fitting name. It's six floors of stores, sporting all eyeglasses on could ever imagine and then some. It's huge, cheap, and overwhelming--which one of the 200 stalls should I buy from?
I generally hate these environments. Even though I speak good Chinese (I've lived in China for 3+ years), hardcore bargaining is still uncomfortable for me. It's contentious and at the end I always have a nagging feeling that I got ripped off anyway, which I probably did.
So I always look ahead for a personal recommendation for a specific shop. So after my last eyeglasses got smashed after I took a fall from my bike, I went to one shop mentioned on City Weekend (http://www.cityweekend.com.cn/beijing/listings/shopping/malls-department-stores/has/glasses-city/) and in these forums.
No. 218 (韩国春 English translation: Korean Spring) is a very cozy shop on the second floor run by a Korean father-and-daughter combination who've lived in China for a long-time, but still import a lot of their lenses.
The proprietor Mr. Jin (金秋) will give you a proper eye check-up, walk around for 5 minutes to test out the results, and then have the glasses made. The daughter is a firecracker and will give you her frank opinions on which frames suit you best. They aren't pushy and clearly care about their customers. The telephone number is [--]. Note that I did communicate entirely in Chinese--they do not speak much English.
I paid 180RMB for my prescription lenses plus the frame. I was pleased, and had a second pair made for 170RMB (I tried a little bargaining, but that was basically the price. Most other stores start out way higher). The lenses for both of those were the 80 RMB ones from Korea--they worked out well for me. So long as you're not doing progressive lenses, the manufacture takes only about 30 minutes.
Then I had a pair of prescription sunglasses made too. I was first quoted a high price (280) for "Ray-Bans", which I'm 99.99% sure are fakes (maybe the store still pays more for them though?). In any case, I found another generic but stylish pair that I also paid 180 for. I'd rather not have fakes anyway.
All in all, 530 RMB (83 USD) for 3 pairs of smart glasses. And, it was a pleasant shopping experience to boot.

... can be quite a challenge! There have been many helpful reviews here about particular stores (especially many thanks to klukoff!). I have tried to find these before and finally managed, so I would like to share the location description.
There are several malls for glasses around Panjiayuan subway stop (I know three of those, but here might be more).
When you exit the subway through north-west exit, you will find the first one to your left after a few meters heading north. There is a parking lot outside and an elevator on the outside of the building. In this mall you will find shop 18-21, mentioned in one of the reviews. The shop has a decent, but not vast choice and English speaking sales people.
The second mall is a little bit further north. Here too is a parking lot outside and an elevator on the outside of the building, which makes it even more confusing. The Korean shops 218 and 303 are located in this mall. Compared to 18-21 prices are lower, the choice is larger but basic Chinese is very helpful.
The third mall is located on the eastern side of 3rd ring road, you can see a large building with glasses and and entrance gate from the flyover.

Today I returned to the same shop I visited three years earlier: #218 (Name: 韩国春). The most bewildering thing about glasses city is that there are hundreds of different shops and you don’t know which one to choose. I don’t like pushy salespeople and I don’t enjoy bargaining.
Three years ago I visited and went to shop #218 based on some other online reviews. I also had a pleasant experience and wrote a positive review here on TripAdvisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g294212-d1603977-r121184048-Glasses_City-Beijing.html#REVIEWS My glasses lasted 3 years until I they broke when I dropped them.
Shop #218 is still owned and run by the same Korean-Chinese proprietor Mr. Jin (金秋), still located on the second floor of Zhaojia Glasses City (兆佳眼镜城), one of several glasses malls in the area. Shop #218 has also added a larger shop on the third floor of the same mall, so they have larger selection now. Phone number is still 6733-5745
The name brand glasses (Ray-Ban, etc.) are of course knock-offs (glasses city is not the place for real brands). But they have a nice selection of no-name Korean frames that I liked. Open until 17:45 on weekdays, 18:45 on weekends.
I paid 220 RMB per pair of glasses (frame & prescription lenses). Prescription sunglasses were slightly more expensive: 350 RMB.
Three years later, I still recommend this shop!

Anyone know Mr. Jin the Korean owner optical store #218 WeChat ID and phone number to call from the IS?
Written 10 October 2019
Hi
Do you have Anna's phone number to call fro mUS and WeChat ID as I am looking to buy some prescription glasses?
I was going to see Mr. Jin the Korean in store #218 but I can't seem to find his phone number.
I am flexible seeing someone new as long as they are reputable, your review is more recent.
Thanks,
Satnam
