We used Great Wall Adventures to hike 8 miles along the Great Wall, starting in Jiankou. Not for the unfit! This was a most challenging hike, and well worth it for the views and culture. Be sure your shoes or boots are well broken-in. We hiked all the way to Mutianyu and took the toboggan down to the base of... More

My fiancé and I wanted to hike the Great Wall and wanted to see it in it's unrestored state: Jiankou is where to start off. We hired John with HereisBeijing.com and he dropped us off at the bottom of the mountain. With this hike, we started here and finished at Mutianyu. This allowed us to see both the unrestored wall... Great experience. The weather was not so good, but the wall is great. Very good service by Miles' Car and Bruce.

We visited the Great Wall as part of a 15 day tour of China with Sinorama Tours. This was our first day stop so kicked off our amazing tour with a BANG! We were very lucky to have a beautiful sunny day with clear skies so managed some amazing photos of our time there. There is a fair bit of... More

This is a harder place for hiking, but the views from the top are magnificent! A very interesting and unique spot.

I can not emphasize this enough! This section is amazing, unrestored, with great scenic views all around, and all without the crowds. I enjoyed this section more due to this

Remote, quiet and wild section of the great wall. I visited this section in October 2016 in rainy and misty weather. Mysterious feel, but quite slippery. Very steep climbs/descents. Need to be physically fit. Not very touristic.

A bit further out than Mutianyu, but worth the extra half hour journey as we were the only tour group there!

Like other reviewers, we found walking this section of the wall a fantastic opportunity. It is not in complete ruin, but is not maintained and there are some tricky spots. (Don't go to the upper floors of towers, our guide told us.) As we walked the wall, I was surprised that this section is even open. It's not that the... More

Our favourite part of our 2 day hike - we were lucky to get blue skies and rewarded for our long hike with gorgeous vista's and a fun and stimulating walk along the wild wall. Gorgeous colours in Autumn
