The Water Cube is a nickname for the National Aquatic Center in Beijing. The Water Cube is a marvel, it's the site for the Olympic Games in 2022, when it became the Ice Cube. The Ice Cube gives the impression of being a collection of bubbles, we thought it's a wonderful sight to see in Beijing.

Our multi-day private tour in Beijing allowed for what was practically only a drive-by viewing of the Water Cube, aka National Aquatics Center. We stopped the car on the side of an empty street, took the steps up onto on a highway pedestrian bridge under a typically grey Beijing sky, stood on a small viewing platform and saw the Water Cube from afar. It looked just as sad and tired as that Beijing sky and appeared to be in need of a deep cleaning. Maybe, if we had gone inside, our opinion would be different, but our experience was not a positive one at all.

This looks like a fabulous place, one of the best water parks in the world, but it was closed when I went, I've seen other reviewers who also found it closed. Expensive. No boxer trunks for men, a chance to wear a skimpy suit. If you are over 60 you need an escort!!

We visited the whole Olympic area in one day - Olympic Park, Tower, Bird's Nest and Water Cube. There are 3 MTR stations that drop off into the area - we exited at Olympic Sports Center. We chose the dual tickets - Overall View of the Bird's Nest and Water Cube. This allowed us to tour the Bird's Nest inside the VIP area and seating area, inside the actual stadium and go on top of the roof to walk around. It was fun and the views were amazing. We also toured the Water and Ice Cube (Aquatics Center) - they have an indoor waterpark, viewing of the olympic pool and one of the diving area was open and they had a curling tournament while we were there - you could just walk in and sit down. Places to eat inside and other small venue items - VR, ski tracks, etc.

We went on a night time tour to see this and it was so worth it. Seeing it during the daytime doesn’t do it justice. We didn’t go inside just walked around outside and took photos. It’s free to walk around and you can see the birds nest as well.

We visited the Beijing National Olympic Centre (the Cube) in May 2019. As a masters swimmer, I was really looking forward to seeing the facility and swimming in the competition pool. Not one site on the Internet mentioned that the Cube is undergoing renovations for the 2022 Olympics. The competition pool was closed off, and the waterpark was dark (closed down.) Only the 2 practice/warmup pools were open, and the facilities were badly maintained, no shower curtains, dirty lockers, rusty metal shower walls... very disappointing, and disconcerting, as the Chinese swimmers liked to clear their throats and spit into the water filters as they completed each lap.
Also - to swim in the deeper pool, you have to demonstrate that you know how to swim. They will try to get you to pay an extra fee to get the paper documentation that shows that you've passed the swim test. I told them I don't speak Chinese, and that I swim in the ocean. They finally gave up trying to explain to me about the testing fee and just asked me to take the test - tread water for 30 seconds.

We simply wanted to walk around the Water Cube and also see the Birds Nest (opening ceremony stadium for 2008 Summer Olympics, and also will be site of opening ceremony for 2022 Winter Olympics). Very beautiful design to both buildings and great photo op

Decided to take a group to the water cube, but access to the pools and water slide were way over priced and we decided not to go.
Water cube is being transformed into the ice cube for the winter Olympics, which was interesting to see.

In the afternoon and students went to the water cube, there is a swimming pool, classmates just had a swimming coach, with his help I have a short swim in the water, because students want to catch the train, so we left to play for two hours, very happy, looking forward to come again next time, next time to plan a good time, good to visit the water cube
