The Art museum had many wonderful pieces. I especially like the modern art and folk art by Chinese artists. It was very interesting in that they did have many paintings depicting their communist past. In fact, considering treatment of artists in China, you wonder how...More

Only floor 5 is open. Floor 1/2/3 closed for work. So pointless making the effort to go. Woefully disappointed. Had high expectations

Free admission with your ID card/passport. The exhibitions change regularly so check to see what interests. I loved the mix of traditional Chinese paintings and contemporary oil paintings with Chinese subjects. Was a great place to spend the afternoon away from the heat outside.

The variety of art at the museum was vast, with modern paintings next to cultural paintings depicting Buddhist monks. The entrance was free which was even better, and the staff were helpful and polite. The museum has some great works of art and you can...More

The good? An easy 1/2 mile walk north of Wangfujing commercial street and it's free. Not so good: 3 floors with a hodgepodge of Revolutionary realist art, genre paintings and modern works - in each gallery! There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to...More

Nowhere has the impact of state control been as evident to me as at the art gallery. While there was an interesting exhibition of works from the Gansu Academy a group of men who produce a range of work, some impressive and some fairly amateur,...More

This is one of the best museums in Beijing. Monday closed though. This museum has extensive collections of chinese paintings and sculptures. You can easily spend 2 to 3 hours in it, from one room to another. Entrance fee is low on top of that....More
