If you travel through Nairobi, stop instead at the Masai Mara market where things a fraction of the price here. If you can't, don't worry they accept MasterCard here.

Excellent wood carvings - see their web site for pictures. You can also visit the carvers village and meet the men producing these wooden beauties. Located 4 km from city center direction the airport, take Matatu from GPO (general post office), 30 ksh.

Wherever you go in Mombasa (and elsewhere in Kenya) you will find people selling key-rings name-plates and carvings. Although some of it is made in places such as Bombolulu, most of it is made here. Akamba really miss a trick by not having pictures of...More
