We had an incredible 6-day safari with Tanzania Horizon Safaris! Our group of 6 explored the magical Mara River at the Tanzania-Kenya border, and it was beyond words. Our guide, Sabas, was the heart of our adventure, sharing his knowledge and passion for wildlife. From lions to giraffes, every moment was a thrill. Sabas's expertise and friendly demeanor made the journey unforgettable. The accommodations were comfortable, and the food was delicious. We stayed at Mara Kati Kati camp in Tanzania and Sopa Lodge on the Kenyan side. A big shoutout to Sabas for making our safari a once-in-a-lifetime experience. If you're dreaming of an amazing safari you shouldnt miss Mara region and the Mara river

We came for the migration and that's what we got, the amazing spectacle and thousands of wilderbeest. First days the river was low but rains way upriver caused quick flooding and so crossings much harder then. We saw 4 crossings and it was worth the trip to see this wonder

No we did not see river crossings but it was great to see the Mara River both from the ground and the air. I would love to return during crossing season even though I know that is the luck of the draw.

Mara river teeming with hippos and crocodiles is a good place to stroll in the masai mara. It is about 1 km long, with several viewpoints along the way.

No way you can go to Maasai Mara without a trip down by the river! Just don't get too close or you might not return. LOL Walked down by the river through the hippo trails with our park ranger guide and it was truly an amazing experience. To see the river over so many years with the great migrations and then to walk along those very same paths was a once in a lifetime experience...

We did not see a river crossing but what we did see was incredible. The wildebeest and zebra were hanging around the river and it was a delight to see so many congregated. We did see crocodiles, hippos, water fowl and more.

We stopped here on the tail-end of our day out exploring the vast, never-ending Masai Mara. While it felt like a little bit of a "forced add-on", it was worth it to see the mighty hippos swimming, playing, and jumping into the Mara River!
A local game guide will walk you along the river for a few hundred meters as you gawk, photograph, and ponder the realities of such wild, wacky beasts! Worth a visit... and you're most likely to be forced into it!
