We had a day to spend in Nairobi and decided to go visit Giraffe Center.
You can easily reack Giraffe Center with uber or other app, 25 minutes from City Center.
Entrance ticket is 1500 KSH per person and you get a small cup with food for giraffes.
Basically there is short path, with some explaination and videos to watch but mainly you go there to feed the giraffe.
Unfortunately it was Sunday at 11am and it was a bit crowded, with people rushing to get the best shot.
I advise to go in less crowded hour.
But it is a nice activity, you get to see giraffes really close and you contribute to their health and preservation.
In front of the entrance, there is a small and easy trekking path.
It was refreshing since it is well shadowed by trees.
Nobody was doing the path, so we had time to spare and was a good idea.
Inside the center there is also a nice path with a guide ready to explain how the center recycle waste, both solid and liquid.
Interesting since Kenya didn't seem to have a deep waste management culture.
Anyway, if go there just to feed the giraffe do not expect more than 30 minutes time needed.

This is an amazing thing to do while visiting Nairobi. When you enter the Giraffe Center you get a small cup of food you can feed to them. The staff is very friendly and will guide everyone how to feed the animals safely. The experience is very unique singe you get to hang out really close to the giraffes. Just watch out for their sudden movement so you won’t get head-butted.
There’s also a small cafe but if you want you can be in & out of the center in under 30 minutes. Quick but memorable thing to do while traveling.
We were thinking about staying in the Giraffe Manor close by but prices were really high. This is an affordable option to go see and feed the animals.

Whilst there are animals wanting to be fed in the distance there are other Giraffes that are just eating in the woods. They come for food.
As part of the reasonable entry fee they give you 1/2 a coconut with pellets that you place on the Giraffe's tongue. There is a ramp that least up to the feeding area so the big Giraffes bend down and the little ones stretch up!
They are so gentle but there are signs saying they can butt. Warthogs and other animals just roam around!

If in and around Nairobi and you have a keen interest in animal welfare, this is one place you should not miss.
The place is full of history and testimony to those who have worked tirelessly and continue to do so to conserve animals. Forget about buying eco friendly cars and domestic products, this place will humble you and make you appropriate giraffes in close proximity.
The guides are very knowledgeable and the museum has plenty to wet your nature curiosity.
Value for money and really cool way to teach kids about animal welfare.
Certainly, we will visit again.

We initially wanted to stay at Giraffe Manor but found the price ($2,500/night with a two-night minimum) prohibitive during the holidays. Instead, we visited the Giraffe Center, which was an affordable and enjoyable alternative. We went early on Christmas morning and had the place mostly to ourselves. Feeding the giraffes was a fun experience, and we also enjoyed a peaceful walk on the nearby trails. A charming and worthwhile stop if you're in the Karen area, especially if you go early.

This place is a must to visit in Nairobi. Easy to get to and from by Uber. The staff are very friendly and informative. It was a fun experience feeding the giraffes. With the feeding and information session in the presentation area, I spent about an hour at this place, but it can be easily done in 30 minutes as it's not a very big place. I suggest going early in the morning during a weekday when they open as it's less busy.

My wife and I went here and really enjoyed it. It's quite small and you would only need 2 hours max there. Their presentations were informative and there are a few other conservation things to explore as well as the giraffes. You are able to get up close and feed the giraffes and you're free to to spend as much time there as you may like

This was my second visit since 5 years ago and it’s better than ever. Looks much more Renovated and looks incredible. Once you first arrive, you are to wish your hands and immediate given food to feed the giraffes. I loved being able to go inside the area with our guides to look at the bones and artifacts of giraffe. Learned so many random facts. Definitely a highly recommended place to visit if you have to choose one activity in Nairobi, this is it!!

Great place, the staff that works here are so polite, professional and knowledgeable. The Baringo giraffes are beautiful and all so adorable. A great feeling to feed them, their tongues are slightly rough but such a joy to get so close to them. The staff does an excellent job maintaining the facilities. The adjacent nature walk is beautiful, becareful though if you do it along you could wander off and they say it is a bit dangerous. I saw large hooves print on the ground, a bit scary but a nice beautiful walk! The trees are so impressive - nature cures our ailments! Remember to go there early in the morning, you get to spend more time with the Baringo beauties!

Fun experience to see the rothchild giraffes up close! You wont need more than an hour here. Saw a few baby giraffes too! They give you some food pellets to feed them. Inside, they also have some information on giraffes, especially on rothchild ones, too for you to learn more. I went on a Friday around noon and it wasn't crowded.

Giraffes are animal of high quolity in our Nation Of Nairobi Kenya ,tuarist many more every week

Its about 40km/25miles from Jomo Kenyatta airport. The unfortunate situation is that it could take as low as 30mins or up to 2hrs due to Nairobi traffic. So plan accordingly and be flexible. We've experienced both long and short drive times. Fortunately, we had a private driver and took into account timing of various operating hours and visiting times.

Being a student and a Kenyan citizen how much am I supposed to pay as entry fee in giraffe center (13 years and above)
Written 23 January 2022
I was there 3.5 months ago as a tourist. Yes, I paid about USD 15 for myself also paid for my guide and recalled that it was less than USD 5 but that including some treats for the giraffes.

How far is David Sheldrick trust from the Giraffe centre please ? Thank you
Written 21 March 2021
Not far.
Bear in mind that the feeding of the elephants only happens once a day at 1100 and you need to have booked in advance, so sort out the elephants first and then consider how to do the giraffes.
The giraffes will only take about an hour, so you could do them before the elephants if you are going to be in Nairobi, but you will need to queue for the elephants, so aim to be there at 1030. We came from Amboseli straight to the elephants and did the giraffes afterwards, then had a late lunch.
