Tom Mboya Monument is a statue of Tom Mboya along the Moi Avenue about 500 meters from Khoja Mosque in front of Hilton Park on eastern side. It was erected in 2011 in honour of Tom Mboya, a Kenyan minister who was assassinated in 1969, allegedly on behest of Kenyan President Jomo Kenyatta, father of present President Uhuru Kenyatta. He... I not really know what to say about this place. It is one of the few places in Nairobi city centre where you can actually sit down while waiting for someone. It however gets quite crowded so one has to always be on the look out. It is only good for stopping by for a few minutes.

This is located on a crowded Moi Avenue. Very historical, Tom Mboya was one of the greatest trade unionist Kenya has ever had. He was killed by a gun man along Moi Avenue. The Statue has been idolized, especially by people from his Luo community and fans of a local football club, Gor Mahia.

This statue is located in the Central Business District - close to the National Archives in Nairobi. Obviously Tom Mboya is an important historical/political figure in Kenya, but I am just not sure that this statue is in the right location. The statue itself is a very odd shape - it is bottom heavy with a massive base, that almost... More

Flying trash, dust and blaring noises from PAs of like 30 self proclaimed healers, pastors and magicians trying to squeeze the last penny from onlookers. The statue itself is derelict. The place is a sheer nuisance to be and you will be lucky if you find a way to avoid it during your errands in town.

Struggling a bit when such places are being presented as an "attraction" to visitors in Nairobi. CBD is an interesting place and gives a sense of Nairobi, the character of which is already well documented.

Its just one statue and nothing more. It is only good for viewing if you live around or were walking around and about the city but not enuff to make anyone board a plane to go see. sorry.

Perhaps, you've studied History in your classes sometimes back. Kenya too has it's history and some individuals were the architects and this includes this illustrious son of the Great Lake in Western Kenya. The statue of him looks nice and on most Saturday's you will find die-hard Gor Mahia Football Club fans congregating it and paying their respects so as... More

Wonderful thought by the government to put up the statue which really created a welcome scene at one of the spots in the city that was a bit shameful due to neglect. What stands out is that it is misplaced. Unlike the Dedan Kimathi statue along Kimathi street, Tom Mboya statue is on Moi avenue. Bench type of seats around... More
