We stopped in at the Temple of Montu - south of Luxor on our way back from visiting the West Bank - & so pleased that we did. We learned that a large number of Nubian families were uprooted by the rising water resulting from the Aswan Dam & were relocated to the Luxor and Kom Ombo areas. They are primarily farmers, craftspeople and produce ethnic Nubian items. We purchased some textile & leather goods at the Nubian House Cultural Centre as the Proceeds help the local Nubian people. Worthwhile visit!

Perfect for anyone looking for a unique insight into authentic Nubian and Egyptian crafts. Plenty of opportunity to view demonstration of craft making in action including textile weaving, basket making, straw hats, leatherwork and pottery. One of Luxor’s best kept secrets, not to be missed.

The Nubian House is located on the east bank just near the Luxor bridge.
Local woman make pottery, scarves, rugs, jewellery, bags & lots more. The craftsmanship is excellent & if you are lucky, you will see them at work.
Prices are very reasonable, better than at the bazaars.
Gamal will welcome you with a drink & a chat & there's no pressure to buy. They are just happy to see you.

The Nubian House is a unique cultural centre where the local Nubian women make all types of hand crafted products, such as pottery, scarves, beaded jewellery, leather products, bags & wall hangings.
Products are very well priced & proceeds help the local community.
You can see the women at work producing beautiful pieces.
You will be welcomed, shown around & can sit in the lovely Nubian surroundings.
There is no pressure to buy.
