A quiet oasis

We wandered through the lush tropical gardens enjoying the coolness and quiet. Wide walkways with flower covered arches and benches make it comfortable and relaxing.

The botanical gardens are very interesting and if you are interested in plants then it is a must. They have many different species of fruit trees and palms and the boat ride out to the island is enjoyable in itself. You don't need that long there as it is not very big but it has some wonderful views across the... More

This beautiful garden makes a good destination for a felucca trip. It is free from any hassles of guides or hawkers so presents an respite from the hustle bustle of Aswan. It has many beautiful trees and flowering shrubs presenting a great to contrast also to the mostly arid nature of the area around Aswan.

One feels on a tropic island (memories of Martinique and La Réunion sprang up on my mind !) and I rarely ever felt more in peace, while walking through that island with... More

Lord Kitchener isn't mentioned on the notice boards, even though this was his home! Lovely gardens with easy flat walking and lovely river views. There are tourist stalls and drinks available, but we weren't pestered by sellers. Look out for interesting birdlife.

Our visit to the Aswan Botanical Garden was part of our Nile Cruise package. We went by motor boat across a smooth River Nile.
