Memphis, which means "beautiful city", was our first stop south of Cairo on that day when we saw the Giza Pyramids, Zoser's step pyramid in Saqqara, and the statues in the Memphis Museum. All of these sights were doable in 1 day. We were on a tour with Uniworld who took care of all travel details and guide. Driving for... More

It is a super small place that has very limited exhibits and it mainly feature the super great statue of ramsis the second that is made from granite and since it is super gigantic and has broken legs, it laid in its back on the ground and they built a building surrounding it so u can see it from the... I had visited this museum as part of my day tour to Saqqara, Dahshur, and the Giza Pyramids with a private guide. Most of the exhibits were outdoor. There is a large limestone statue of Ramses II in the main building and an alabaster Sphinx located outside. There were also numerous other statues and exhibits on display. There were signs... More

This was not a destination stop. We stopped here while traveling to several places throughout the day. The statue of Ramses II was interesting, as well as the sphinx. Other than a few more statues, there wasn't much to see here. Our stop here was about 30 minutes.

Generally a small museum contained in a little park outside. Some of the monuments contained within are very impressive though.

Really interesting visit as all there is to see in Egypt, however, you can skip this one if you are short in time.

While others museums in the world would be considered outstanding, if they could present what is to be seen here, from Egyptian standards this is unimpressive. Only go there, if you really have the time and only in connection with Sakkara (which is a must). Presentation is a in most places outdated and the place is rather hard to reach.... More

Sad residual of a once great city that stretched to the Nile. Maybe an acre in size (including vendors hawking their Chinese-made wares inside) the site appears to be minimally maintained. Be prepared for a shocking ride to the sight of passing by garbage filling canals on dusty, poorly maintained roads.
