it is under restoration, it was built before the The Great Pyramid of Giza, worth to visit. You will have the chance to enter other tombs around the Step Pyramid.

It is very interesting to follow the progression of how pyramids were built from heaps of stones to mud blocks and finally the cut stone ones.

We were unable to go inside do to renovation. It was still a site to see. I would suggest the tour to the site. outside is wonderful and many tombs on site,

I highly recommend visiting the Step Pyramid and learning about it's significance and construction. It is quite impressive and well maintained, and there is restoration work in progress to ensure that it will continue to stand for the future.

Ok this is not Giza, but you get to get into a piramyd and enjoy the misticism of it with a bit of privacy, since you're not struggling with people around you, so, it is something to consider, I would say

We traveled with our teens to see this as part of our day tour of pyramids and we loved walking through the telllenamd up to the stepped pyramid. Definitely worth a stop.
