Smaller than the Sphinx at Giza

This Sphinx in Memphis was smaller than the one in Giza but it was still worth seeing. It was a lot less crowded around this Sphinx than the one in Giza.

It is in Memphis which is 15-20 miles away from Giza Plateau , if you have time go there, there is also the master piece colossal limestone statue of Ramses 2 , which used to be 12.8 high when standing, but legs are missing . Not much else to see there and only if you want to kill sometime.

Once part of the complex at Memphis. Can get quite close and walk around it fully. Part of the Memphis park.

The best part of this attraction is the drive into it. Great views of the 'rural' Cairo. The attraction itself is a courtyard with the sphinx in the center and a seemingly one hundred vendors surrounding it. Lots of "old rocks" to look at but not much by way of explanation of what they are. Potentially more attractive to an... More

This little sphinx is the smaller version of its Giza cousin. It's made of marble and sits watching in front of a museum in Memphis.

This is not the great Sphinx of Cairo. This is a smaller Sphinx in the area that was Memphis. It has a little museum and the artifacts that were found there. On the one hand, it's not a big wow when you first arrive and see it. But, the history is interesting. This was the first stop on our tour.... More

Hidden in the city of Memphis is this beautiful work of art. Since it's made of Marble it's perfectly preserved

This is a nice statue. Great to take pictures with. I wouldn't go out of my way to see it but it was part of our tour guide.
