Amazing place

This is old world old civilization. If you love history you need to go such place. It is also good to take some locals with you to tell you some stories.

We came here as a tour group , these pyramids are different than the great pyramids and the site is not so crowded so less hassle here . The history is very interesting and its worth reading about before you come to see them so you can appreciate them more.

Saqqara is much different than the great pyramids, but it's still worth a visit. The small step pyramid really helps you realize the advancements that were made while assembling these masterpieces. Also should visit the small museum on site.

The museum is small but excellent. The design of the pyramid is unique, however access to the interior is not permitted during restoration.

Overall, I enjoyed seeing this early pyramid as a part of my larger tour. It is far less crowded than the Koeps Pyramid and has unique history. I don't know that I would go see it on its own, without other sites.

This review is quite late. We went to Saqqara and Memphis in the afternoon after visiting the pyramids in Giza. With our adventurous soul we decided to hire two horses and did horseback riding all the way from Giza to Saqqara and Memphis at midday. It was rather hot and outside temperature was really oppresive. From time to time our... More

This site is more than just the pyramid you see in the photo. The step pyramid itself is actually broken. Someone decides to drill in the side of it for research, cracked one entire side, then fled. There is now scaffolding all over the pyramid with little work being done throughout the years since. It's still a cool pyramid because... More

I visited saqqara based on reading on the internet and I was not at all disappointed. This is the only place in Egypt to see step pyramids supposedly built by Imhotep. It is not only the pyramid but also the whole area that has many things to be seen. Our guide also told us very interesting story about how this... More
