We took a day trip and it included a visit to the Citadel. We were blown away by the size and beauty. Inside you must take your shoes off, or for a few Egyptian pounds you can buy shoe covers (like hospital socks) and place them over your shoes while inside. The inside was aweosme. The place is great but went there and some of the areas were closed due to maintenance works. Inside the mosque is very beautiful. need to remove your shoes , so bring a bag along.

Beautiful place if you looking to feel old Cairo nice view and if you going in the summer make sure to have umbrella and water, try to move in group with tour guide as the area around is not safe.

The Mosque Mohammed Ali is located inside the area of the Citadel. The mosque was nothing special and I only gave it 2 **. But the view from the Citadel over Cairo is magnificient, so the Citadel itself deserve 5 *****!
