This is a sprawling warehouse type place with loads of live seafood on the ground floor. So many stalls and all very eager to get your business. You will need to speak Korean although some could manage some English. We selected a massive king crab and hamachi sashimi style. The vendor threw in abalone, conch, squid and octopus for free. What an experience! After selecting the live seafood they would slaughter it to be wheeled to the upper floor restaurants to be cooked. You determine how it is done. The experience is very similar to Noryanjin except I find Garak to be closer to the authentic experience. Definitely worth a try.

3 of us were there on a Thursday afternoon (1:30pm), it was rather quiet, not many customers. There are many seafood stalls selling all kinds of seafood that you can imagine. The vendors were friendly and not pushy. We bought our king crab(2.8kg, 70,000 won/kg) and a small squid(7,000 won) from a young man. He gave us 4 scallops and some clams for free (very fresh). After the purchase, an ahjuma brought us to a restaurant (3rd floor). It was clean and service was good. We had the squid eaten as fresh(no handling charge). Scallops and clams (handling 3,500 won) were serve before the king crab(handling 21,000 won), it will take 30 mins to steam. At the end of the meal, we ask the ahjuma to make 2 portion of fried rice (3,000 won per potion) with the sauce of the crab. The restaurant will charge 3,000 won per pax for all the side dishes. All of us enjoy our lunch, we will be coming to this market for our very korea trip.
