This was pretty neat being able to see a movie in Korea. The theater played English movies and the theater was in a mall!

Are all popcorn in Korea movie theaters stale? That's my only complaint and I've seen two movies in one week.

Each movie theater is spacious with lots of seating. It's especially busy during the holidays but it's well worth it and it's a great location right near Gangnam. Also conveniently close to shopping malls and the subway.

Pretty cool place. Lots of movies, $9 for adult tickets. Very organized establishment. Comfortable seats, clean with a handbag holder behind each chair! Only in Korea! A great experience.

Pros: - Spacious theatres halls and huge projection size - Movies have Korean subtitles, no dubbing - Low cost (~8$/movie) - Ultra HD screens - Big food court - Responsive team at the ticket box Cons: - Too many commercials before the movie - Not enough trailers

I went to COEX during the weekend and it was incredibly crowded. The theater itself is an American style - like AMC. Seats are comfortable but the separation between rows are not enough and I could barely fit in my legs (I am 180 cm tall). The mall is very American style - with burger shops, boutique shops, coffee shops... More

Megabox at COEX Mall often screens films which are not available at other cinemas in Seoul, eg., twice per week (Tuesdays and Saturdays) there is a screening of a filmed live opera and sometimes famous ballets. Both opera and ballets often performed by famous companies - NY Metropolitan Opera and Mariinsky Ballet. The management is sensitive to customers complaints and... More

Korean Movie Theaters are very different from Theaters in other countries. It is an experience in and of itself to go to a movie. You get pre-assigned seats, so there is no rush to grab a good seat.

As with most korean movie theaters, you get more than what you expect. The venue, customer service, and seating are awesome.... Being American.. Once you figure out the system... you come to realize that this place is all about the movie goer.

Staying in Samseongdong / COEX

Neighbourhood Profile
Samseongdong / COEX
A large business hub, Samseongdong is anchored by Korea’s World Trade Center, where many important business exhibitions and meetings are held. The enormous COEX mall sprawls underground, providing a myriad of things to do and see, including a large aquarium and movie theater. For a bit of peace and zen, head over to the ornate Bongeunsa Temple which is one of Korea’s most important places of worship. Or take a stroll nearby through the tranquil royal burial grounds of Seonjeongneung, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
