If you want to experience the old and present aspects of Korea together, you should visit the Ikseon-dong.

If you're planning to tour Korea, you've probably heard of Insa-dong.

Ikseon-dong is located close to Insa-dong.

The most famous street in Ikseon-dong is Hanok Street.

Shopping malls such as cafes and prop shops are formed by utilizing the architecture of hanok, a traditional Korean house.

These structures ard huddled together, which is really beautiful.

Maybe you'll feel the same way as me, whether you're a Korean or a foreigner.

Also, the advantage of this place is that Korean cultural heritage is located close enough to visit on foot.

In particular, Jongmyo Shrine and Changdeokgung Palace are representative cultural heritages of Korea that are more than 600 years old.

I'm sure it's a place that anyone will enjoy, whether you're with a couple, family or friends. Highly recommended!

Always fun to hang out in Ikseon-dong. Usually crowded streets with locals and tourists from everywhere. Lots of cafes, pubs, souvenir shops, traditional Korean restaurants and BBQ spots.
When I’m in Seoul, I usually stop by for drinks, shopping, or try out a nice restaurant.
We were there last Thursday afternoon for drinks and Sunday afternoon after visiting Jongmyo (종묘).

This was a great find after descending from the Bukchon Hanok Village. Similar to it, it's also a Hanok village, but here all traditional houses are converted into small Korean restaurants, trendy cafes and tea houses, ice cream, cakes and pastries shops,...etc.
We tried several of them, but beware there's a long waiting line in front of the popular spots. It seems touristy, but the majority are locals and it was really nice to visit this area for a couple of hours. We found it much better than the average, dull Insadong street which is only 10 min walk away.

Imagine the Brighton Lanes but with traditional Korean architecture - Hanok houses. Some are converted into restaurants and cafes with beautiful landscape.

The "Hanok Village" is a labyrinth of alleys of shops, bakeries, cafes, galleries and restaurants.

It is very crowded on the weekends. On weekdays it should be easier to wander around and explore, and you may have better chances to get into one of the popular eateries.

Some cafes are located inside Hanok with beautiful front yards.

A small Hanok Village located near Insadong. The vibes are great with beautiful cafes popping up along the old Hanok houses, serving Korean foods, yummy bakeries and desserts. Very instagrammable and beautiful place to spend half a day in.

Cool place to visit while in Seoul. Lots of good restaurants and shops. Wasn’t too packed today when we went around lunchtime. Lots of tourists and locals in the area for a Monday.
We had lunch at a popular Italian restaurant, got some ice cream, some 떡 (rice cake), and a pair of ear rings.
Was surprised to see a Beavis and Butthead poster! LMAO

Recommended by a local to visit which turns out to be one of the most memorable moment of our trip. The area is made up of connecting alleys which makes you feel like you are in a maze but there's something good waiting for you at every turn. Quaint little shops and cafes converted from ancient architectures filled up the streets, displaying a perfect blend of modern and history in the heart of Seoul.
