Most fancy shops, a market and musea and alike are all aligned here. Perfect location to start exploring the city.

We loved the architecture and the possibility to stroll on an alley without having to go up or down the hill. There are many interesting small shops and oriental restaurants on the way, so it would be a pleasant walk if it wasn´t so loud and crowded.
Still a beautiful place to stroll.

We truly enjoyed walking up and down this beautiful street with a ton of character. There are so many restaurants and shops to choose from, and some neat architecture!

This is the most beautiful street in the city. It takes you back in time with its nineteenth century architecture. The paved street has many shops, high end restaurants and cafes and a walk along the street is a very good experience. Definitely a must see.

The lights and cafes were charming. People were friendly - some would argue too friendly as they try to entice you to their cafes. Walk a bit further to Marjanishvili station and you will have McDonald’s and samikitno restaurant :)

There are two sides to Aghmashenebeli Avenue - the bit you see in all the photos and the good bit. The pedestrianised section nearest to the Dry Bridge that gets in all the brochures is just plain nasty. While they've done a great job in doing up all the building frontages and balconies, it's almost impossible to walk down the street and enjoy it, as if you so much as stop to scratch your nose you're instantly surrounded by glassy-eyed touts over enthusing about how much better their restaurant/bar is, despite it having exactly the same International menus as all the others and identikit plastic wicker garden furniture outside. There is almost nothing to enjoy here aside from coming to the end of this short stretch of forced enjoyment and getting to the locals stretch of the street.

Here sits a wide, bustling boulevard, full of eateries, locals shops, cultural centres, beautiful buildings and local life. Some might see nothing but a long wide shopping street, but scratch down the little side streets and there are many delights to be found.

So bypass the shiny posh bit and head in the direction of Marjanishvili Metro for and infinitely real atmosphere.
