There are obviously plenty of things to see in the old city. Lots of hassle from hawkers but generally an interesting and attractive place.

The old town has huge cobbled stones, cats in balconies, kids playing, small quaint shops and lots of buildings. It is a great place to wonder round architectural gems and disasters. Fresh bread smells, tailors etc just follow your nose and ramble.

Very good walking area, many traditional houses and restaurants in the neighborhood. Crowded during tourist season, expensive restaurants with very good seating outside.

The best part of Tbilisi, on my opinion. Good places to eat and buy souvenirs, at the same time you breath history.

Old Town is a very pleasant place to walk around. Chock full of stores, travel agencies and restaurants, OldTown is a pleasant place to waste several hours. It is one of the highlights Tbilisi.

I have just found out what time period you want to research. Very old records are in the State Archive. I'm just trying to find out how long back the documents go in either place and will get back to you
