Typical Asian (mostly) indoor market selling all sorts of lovely local souvenirs, particularly local Longgyi, jade and sandalwood sculptures - ideal for gifts! Definitely recommended!

Tourist trap. Venders are ready to take your money and give you fake or inferior goods. Spending 5 minutes here is more than sufficient. If you have time to kill, do it. Totally not worth the effort to come here at all.

A bridge between the two markets connects the traditional wares being sold at the old market to the modern technology gadjets being sold in the new market. Am sure all your requirements can be met at this one place

What a fascinating market to wander through. Give yourself plenty of time to wander and shop in this market. You can buy some beautiful items here and they are open to bargaining with you on prices. I will certainly go back there when next in...More

Spent about 1hour walk around. I am not a Jewellery lover so only buy some simple souvenir. Good to bargain but with maybe 20% range. Can always walk away but remember being polite to local. And the market is huge if you really into textile...More

Souvenier items are what people back home expect, ut why not go here because you like the goods you see.

This is the most famous Market in Yangon. Everyone goes here locals and tourists alike. You can get anything you want here pretty much, but with that in mind you can still find stuff cheaper elsewhere. Everything is negotiable from cloth to shirts to gorgeous...More

Out of my experience I would say, it will be closed as most of the city/daily life gets to standstill during Thingyan. It's the same in the city, where almost ALL shops are closed. But this answer is not 100% updated. . .
