I have been to the Karaweik Palace barge for the dinner and dance show on two different years and once for lunch. I am very glad I did, despite the mixed reviews here. The dance performances were different in the two years, with the most recent one being better. Yes, it's probably not the perfect dance performance, but it is a good way for foreigners to see a whole range of Burmese dance and puppetry, and I don't think there is any other venue in Yangon where you can do that. Just for that, it is well worth the visit. I think the price is extremely reasonable, from international standards, for a fairly long performance, as well as the all-you-can-eat dinner buffet. There is a huge range in the food, and I found most of what I tried quite delicious. I tried the traditional Burmese fish soup, mohinga, for the first time and discovered that I actually liked it, perhaps because I was able to mix the ingredients I liked in the quantities that I preferred. The one time I went for lunch, I liked the Burmese food very much as well, and will certainly go again the next time I visit Myanmar.

Especially at night, when the giant barge is lit up from the outside, it is a spectacular setting for your evening. So I would highly recommend going to the dinner show at least once if you are visiting Myanmar. One of the nice touches is that as you are walking up to the main entrance, they have set up little booths on either side of the walkway, where you can sample Burmese street food.

The one issue I had is that during the second dinner-theater visit, the air conditioning was not performing well, and the huge hall was quite humid. They need to figure out how to do a better job of the air conditioning, make it more even throughout the hall. The hall is huge and this probably not easy. Maybe setting up floor fans at intervals will help.

Across the street is a nice little gift shop that you can visit. And if you walk a little bit in the park before dinner, you can see the Shwedagon all lit up at night--a lovely memory of your visit to Myanmar.

If someone recommends you to visit this "historical site", he is not your friend. Buffet food is awfully and without taste. Everything is too expensive and for sure you will see a surprise with additional tax you have to pay which is not mentioned anywhere. Show is below average, and I have seen better in Myanmar.

Visit during the day. Not happy with the photos at "street level", I went up to the top floor of the Esperado hotel which is across the street and where, from the restaurant terrace, you have a splendid view of the lake.

It's beautiful building. We had buffet dinner with variety of Burmese, Chinese and Thai dishes. In the same time we had an opportunity to see cultural performance.

The restaurant is a huge old-style catamaran on the water surface of the lake. You will be met by staff in national clothes, you will see a performance with various genres, and of course you can try a large number of dishes.

Beautiful building and is walking distance from Wyndham Grand Yangon. Food was pleasant and show was enjoyable. Only took off a star because it is crowded with loud tourists which make listening tough.

Simple buffet and cultural show. The buffet spread is really just average for the price you have to pay. It’s just for 2 hours (6pm-8pm). But it’s has a nice ambience.

Karaweik Palace is an amazing setting to experience a historical culture performance, and have a great meal during the show!
The all included price for the dinner and show was definately worth it, drinks are paid seperately at reasonable prices too. Frankly, for the buffet and show, I would have happily paid more for it.
The selection of food was very good, and the service of the staff was friendly and prompt.
The show was not limited to a stage performance, but at times commenced from the rear of the restaurant, in a procession towards the stage at times pausing near large tables to interact with patrons.
If you are going to be in Yangon for a few days, this is a definate attraction to add to your itinerary!
