We were fortunate to have the Rabbi's daughter give us a tour and explanation of the Synagogue. Her father recently passed away. There once was a thriving Jewish Community in Yangon- but now only about 20 people remain there. Be sure to visit this on...More

The only synagogue in Myanmar is kept in pristine conditions from the time it was built. It is currently being renovated after the cyclone damaged the roof. It is open every day until 2pm so make sure you get there before.

The Musmeah Yeshua Synagogue is well worth a visit, Jewish or not. It speaks to the diverse, cosmopolitan past of Yangon when it had a sizable, well-to-do a Jewish community originally from Iraq.

The synagogue down the street from Sule Pagoda, near a mosque. The caretakers were friendly and allow us to visit.

What a hidden gem. This synagogue was home to Yangon's thriving Jewish community and survives today due to selfless dedication of the small, approximately 20,congregants who keep it open and alive.

Even though there are less than 20 Jews living in Myanmar today, this building is a relic of a rich history. Right near the market.

We were fortunate to get inside the Synagogue on a Sunday. Very well maintained and one of a dying breed of synagogues in lands where Jews have left or are leaving, with no one staying

Down a small street filled with market stalls was the synagogue of Yangon. It's a fascinating old synagogue with a rich history in a city full of pagodas, churches and mosques. Try to organise a tour or guide as the caretaker on duty when we...More

I agree with everything the others mentioned about the temple in Yangon. Unfortunately only a few members are left. I do know several Iraqi Jews who have moved to the US, if that helps.
