Buddha is said to have visited this monument which has developed into side temples. The entry was 'commercialised' despite its religious reverence. But in all it was a great place to visit especially in the night

The nicest pagoda I have ever seen. Worth of any money. Make sure you return after sunset as well. Entrance fee is 10000 Kyat, which allows you to return on the same day.

This is one place you got to go when you are in Yangon. The history and architecture is amazing. Go around evening time where the temperature is cooler. A fee is needed and I booked the Tripadvisor tour with English guide. It was great even...More

Shwedagon Pagoda itself is grand, awe-inspiring and all that. The sun could make it tough to visit because you have to step on the ground barefoot; so the few hours close to sunset would be better for visit (or visit after sunset if you are...More

A Must-See attraction in Yangon which is on its way to World Heritage's accreditation. Mesmerising architectures with attention-to-details craftwork. Four (North, East, South and West) Main entrances to the holy site, either via lifts and staircases. The entire site becomes the "Golden Place" from 5.30pm...More

I highly admire Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon and it is fantastic to walk around the big pagoda with no shoes. It is a must to see this.

When the right light hits the Pagoda at a particular day (mine was 5:45PM) it was mesmerizing. You can see people stop what they are doing (even the ones in prayers) and pause for that brief moment to appreciate the beauty. It is a MUST...More

The nicest and the biggest pagoda in Asia. When you visit, you will be offered for guide, don´t be afraid to spent some money for this, as without it you will never see and find all hidden places in and around.

Beware of the heat in June and tourist touts offering to 'guide' you. Otherwise stupendous! After a very long climb (barefoot), you arrive at the summit of the hill upon which sits the main temple platform. A somewhat confusing layout, but certainly it is one...More

To be honest this place is not different to any other temple in Burma, personally I couldn’t see the big deal. It was of course nice bit first of all there are too many people, second of all the floor was constantly wet and I...More

I would try and visit in the evening. The light is magical and we enjoyed people watching too! The trouble I found was that I took so many different photographs.......😉
