Very old site- roads are in bad shape. It is very sad to see that no work is done to freshen up the buildings.

For a university it is nicely built and large. The area is very congested with traffic so plan on being caught in crowds. As with most universities, it has very limited funds so many of the buildings are a bit distressed. I was told that it has a large museum-but did not see it.

The Kinshasa univeristy (the "Lovanium") is the big public university of Kinshasa occupying a sprawling hilly area. Some parts date from the 50s and 60s and have some archeological charm. However most of the university is in bad need of maintenance and money. The roads are poor and the buildings crumbling. Student housing is so insufficient there is serious overcrowding.... More
