We posted a letter to the kids back at home and it was a great experience. Lots of laughs trying to get down to the post office. Funny little activity & awesome swimming with the tropical fish.

While cute and novel, $10 postcards are a bit steep - it's just a plastic card that you write upon with a pencil. When unattended, the "post office" is just a fiberglass pod underwater, and the "mail box" just a box 3-4m below the surface. Maybe a bit too far if you're not a good swimmer or unfit. Aside from... Got charged to come onto a dead coral beach which had a fenced of section which was the only part of the island you were allowed to go onto please wear water shoes just so you can actually walk across this excuse of a beach then you get charged yet again to find and post plastic cards into a tin... The underwater post office gives a novelty experience to remember a snorkelling trip off Hideaway Island in Vanuatu. Waterproof postcards can be purchased at the gift shop on the island and they supply a pencil to write on the card. The post office is located about 50 metres off shore and fins are essential if you want to get deep... More

This was one of our highlights of visiting Hideaway Island-we both tried to reach the post box but failed, luckily a lovely young lady volunteered her friend to post our card-thank you both. The post box is worth the swim out form the beach-try flippers if you want to reach the box.

Gimmicky, but worth the snorkel out if you are in the area. I would visit just for this. I couldn't reach the post box, maybe the tide was too high, so wouldn't have been able to post a waterproof postcard even if I wanted to.

Mail that we posted arrived home, so all good. Had a nice mid day meal there, everyone enjoyed the snorkeling. I would recommend you spend a few hours there

We tried to post a letter but perhaps the tide was too high as there was no way we could reach the slot to post it. Oh well, we tried!

Yes, it's a gimmick but it's a memorable one. You can buy waterproof post cards on the island and swim out about 50 metres. The "office" wasn't manned when I was there but the post box was still useable. This was back in April, I hear that the office has been improved since then. Sure enough, my post cards arrived...
