Hidden and without a lot of signs to indicate it’s exact location keeps this park quiet well maintained. The hike is not hard, but not easy either. Returning from the falls is steep, and a portion of the hike is on slippery rocks through the river. But once you arrive it is breathtaking. You can swim in the water but take water shoes(don’t hike in the water shoes, just swim in the river!) Take water, the weather is hot and you will sweat on the hike back up.

The track is quite hard work with steep steps down and up. When I was there, they were renovating the path and the rope that indicates the path was just cut. Once you get down to the first set of rocks and the river flowing, it's unclear where to go. People told me to walk down the flowing water but I felt this was quite dangerous as it was flowing rather fast and with volume. It would be easy to lose one's footing as the rocks are slippery. It was also incredibly hot and humid. I couldn't recommend it to older people. I thought I was fit but in that environment, it wasn't bad going down but coming back up was difficult.

I was guided by a Japanese resident of Palau.
The way is down and the way back is a steep climb.
The waterfall is magnificent and looks great. It breaks into rocks, so the mist spreads and the T-shirt gets wet quickly.
As you pass through the water on the way, sandals and shorts are best as advised.
Along the way, I felt the history of Japan's railways for transporting ore.

Superb walk with crossing of the jungle. The vegetation is lush, the ride is really not ordinary with passages through mud and water.
Lots of irregular stairs and rather high markets.
The whole route is very slippery, bring suitable shoes 😉
The waterfall is definitely worth it, swimsuit required, the water is super pleasant in terms of temperature compared to what we imagined.

Worth the effort to walk from the highway down to the falls. Interesting sites along the way. Take a stick to aid walking, a packed lunch, drinks and ensure you go into the pool and feel the exhilaration sitting under the falls.

The falls are located on the Badeldoab, which is the "big island" of Palau, about a 30-minute drive from Palau. Most dive/tour operators offer an all-day land tour that includes the Ngardmau Falls along with other sites on Badeldoab (such as the stone monoliths, WWII gun emplacements, local village, and national capital building). I would recommend just a trip to the falls to allow more time to enjoy it -- there is a $5 admission to the trail, followed by a 30min hike to get to the falls. There are some beautiful mini-falls along there way with perfectly-formed natural "cool tubs" where you can relax in the water. The hike is hilly so not for the very young / very old / or out of shape.

The waterfall was a serene and amazing place when in the past it was a simple trail with a wild rainforest growing over the trail, even the drive was by 4 wheel vehicles only, it was quite an adventure. The waterfall itself is very beautiful and there is a huge swimming hole beneath, there used to be a really nice local style hut to shelter from the rain under the thatched roof. Since the government decided to develop it , the waterfall lost all its appeal to hikers such as myself. There is an improved trail which would have sufficed as an improvement, however the Chinese company that was entrusted to develop the attraction went far beyond that. They cut down a lot of vegetation next to the trail, so now it looks very barren and there is very little shade now. To add to this they also installed a zipline and it dominates the view. The worst is the "monorail" which has an amazingly loud engine that sounds like theres a lawnmower coming your way when it is even in the far distance. I dont see the point in having that considering its a trail for hikers. I guess they are trying to shuttle more fat people over to the base of the waterfall where they can sit in the already rusty seats that look like they were taken out of a patio of a McDonalds, annoying red roofed umbrellas that are covered in mold top them off. The really nice trees that used to be around the base of the falls are now gone and there is so much sun and there is a deck covering the entire place. Lastly the view of the falls is blocked my some stupid locks of love BS concept where you can hang a lock with your and your lover's name on a metal wire to rust in the misty conditions, also there is a totally fake legend about some one eyed fish that is not from Palau but was written by someone who wrights legends for theme parks I think. I think there is some truth to it though, maybe the visionaries who concieved this development had one eye...because their vision was way off on this one. I hope other states do not ruin their natural attractions with such devastating ideas. It would have made more sense to let locals sell their handicrafts at the entry point and make money that way and then make the entry free, that was a deterrent as well. I guess the money gets to the towns people but they dont get anything to do to make the money and the shop that was there had nothing you'd wanna buy and it was staffed by a foreigner...I would have rather supported a local who created something in Palau.

The falls were beautiful, but water temp is cold, be ready for that. The perfect ocean temps spoiled me. I actually enjoyed the poools 2/3 down to the falls more. The hike in and out isn't too difficult, I recomend it.

Had a great day here lots of fun. We made a bit of a mistake with an expensive camera and took it behind the waterfall. That was the end of that camera. We had
to wait until we got back to the UK to take it back to the shop and get our money back.
Do take care when under the waterfall one of our kids was hit on the head by a large fish and suffered a mild concussion.
but we were having a great time until that happened.

Ngardmau Falls is an easy drive around the ring road from Koror town, and it's easy to spot the entrance. The hike is fairly steep, but not too long, and you are rewarded with a great waterfall at the end. Note that a portion of the trail leads you next to, or in the case following a heavy rain, through a stream, and it can be quite slippery to maneuver through.

What is cost of park, rail and zip line? What is best way for visitor to get to park from Koror? How far is park from Koror
Written 18 July 2015
Hi its about an hour drive from Koror you could take a cab but seeing its a half day trip a shuttle bus would be better. We actually rang the Eco Park Owner (nice guy) he is Korean and his english is not so good, but great if you are Korean. He picked us up at our hotel and dropped us back in a aircond car and charged us US $60 each, 4 x Zip lines was $80 US and an additional $35 US to take the Monorail back up to the top. Hope this helps. So it was about $175 US for the day.
