Underrated place, good to have some green areas left, even in a small town like Nouméa where it tends to look like a concrete jungle even though buildings and surroundings are flat compared to other major cities around the world. Plenty of eateries all around...More

It's a pleasent hour or two looking into the history of Noumea. The English guide is a help. As with most of these museums in Noumea there's a bit of a lack of commentary in English. But it is possible to struggle on.

Everything we read said this was the heart of the town? In fairness it was a Sunday when we visited, but the town was deserted and the Place des Cocotiers was tired looking and only had some families, and a bunch of shady / homeless...More
