Built in the style of a Maprik Haus Tambaran (house of spirits), this impressive building was opened in 1984. Parliament House is an interesting place whether parliament is on or not. The lake is simply beautiful.

We didn't get to see inside as the Parliament was not in session but the exterior and the landscaping was very impressive.

We drove up to the gates of the impressive parliament building, explained that we were tourists and were allowed straight in. We were even able to drive all the way to the front door. After taking pictures outside a security guard beckoned us inside, where we were given a free tour of the reception hall and the MPs chamber with a very friendly lady who explained all about the government in PNG. She also took great pride in showing us their insect collection which contained many insects bigger than our two cats at home!

The parliament is a unique architectural building well worth a visit. Be sure to have a guide as Port Moresby can be a dangerous place. The building is based on different tribal hones and spirit houses. We did not get inside as we were there on s Sunday but would have loved to see the inside.

Wonderful architecture, well worth the visit. Did not go inside, but nice to walk around the building as it flowed, & looked down into shaded garden areas, lovely

We stopped here after visiting the National museum. The building is spectacular both in its shape and the paintings on the front. The lake and gardens are beautifully kept. We didn't do a tour inside but it's certainly worth a quick stop whether or not you go inside.

Went for a visit and also got a tour of the Parliament House. Interesting to see the collection of butterflies of PNG. The outside of the building looks pretty interesting too.

I was in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea last month for business. I took five extra days after finishing my business and enjoyed the town and scenery. The national Parliament house is definitely worth checking out! While I was in the country Papua New Guinea would celebrate their 42nd year of independence that weekend. I would highly recommend checking out this wonderful building.

At different times I had a driver from the hotel and a local friend who I met while staying at the hotel take me around the area. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.

The local people are very friendly and most hospitable. I was always greeted with a smile and everyone said hello and wanted to strike up a conversation. At NO time did I ever feel unsafe during my visit. Unlike what others told me prior to visiting.

I will definitely return. Is unlikely that any time to soon this will become a tourist destination point. If the country would be set up for tourism, the country would do very well!

The different parts of the parliament are amazing - reflecting various house styles in PNG. Inside you will find an astonishing collection of butterflies and insects on Display but also important carvings.

The signs re dress standards at the front security gate might put you off but appear to relate to if you want to meet a minister (we all entered with t-shirts, thongs and shorts). The breeze is great on a hot day, the display of butterfly's, moths and stick insects was a surprise and tour of the chamber very well done (take your hat off and no photos - local guides roam the gardens and gently push you in the right direction and there is no charge).
