The Palace is an attractive colonial building perched on the spacious Independence Square. Formerly the residence of the Dutch governor of Suriname, it is now the work address of the president. Hopefully the young country will be able to retain and maintain these historical buildings, designated also as a UNESCO world heritage site.

They are in the middle of refurbishing the building. Loved the wooden Dutch structures that are a century or more old, that make up the downtown area. I am surprised they never burned down.

This is a nice building unfortunately under renovation whilst we were there. It's not possible to go inside as far as I could ascertain so it is of little interest except as one building amongst many. Take a photo and move on!

It looks ok from the outside, needs more work done though. They have kept it as the original colonial palace but I think palace is a bit of an overstatement! Needs to be updated!

I love the whole town of Paramaribo and this is a great example of the buildings around town just on a whole 'nother level! Located opposite the Fort this will make a good addition to a walking/cycling tour around the city.

Seems like much of Paramaribo is being repaired. The palace was also covered in scaffolding for touch up and fixing. It is a very nice looking building, all white with a striking front facade. We could not go inside, but could tell it was ornate.

The Palace needs a lot of work to make it a better . I see that there is currently a renovation project on. I applaud this move.
