I Always have mixed feel about going to the zoo. I live animals and love to watch them too. But like in most zoos the animals here are locked up in small cages. Especially the big cats become neurotic. But still it is a nice place to visit on a day with nice weather. There is a lot of playground... More

With a day to spare I visited but it was hardly worth the time. Only visit if you have spare time which I had with a cancelled tour. Not many animals but there is a beautiful jaguar in a way too small cage. A couple of ocelots as well.

Not an inspiring place. There is a selection of animals but with the exception of the monkeys that had some space on an island they seemed to be very constrained in small enclosures. There are plenty of places in Suriname to see monkeys in the wild. The rest of the zoo is a good example of why animals are best... More

For a country with a GDP 200 times smaller than the UK this is an excellent zoo. It's very well maintained. Not only do they give a nice glimpse into the local fauna they are clearly putting a lot of effort into education and conservation. Limited bar. Plenty of benches. Pushchair friendly.

We loved this zoo so much. It isn't very big and doesn't have that many animals (though there are some very exciting ones!), but it is so well made and well kept, that it is a pleasure to walk around. It is more of a park, very green, quite shady even in the sun, there is a small river and... More

Visited december 2016. It was small and most of the animals were asleep. To be fair it was very overcast an cold. It rained alot that day also. But it was very nice experience.

My encounter with those ostrichs have lasting images in my mind. I had the experience of seeing a real ostrich egg, which I thought was fictional from books and movies

Be prepared for Mosquitos during your walk thru this zoo. Nice attractions, but needs updating for sure. A few cool animals including Jaguar, Red Egrets and Anaconda!
