The hike to the church is the best part of the visit. Nothing special about the church itself. Depending on the time of the day, the PA system will have a priest talking.

A must to visit while in Bogota! The history of the Basilica and the simple beauty of it is a must see. Located at the top of Monserrate you can hear mass, sit quietly or simply enjoy the peace the church offers to visitors.

Perched high atop one of the peaks of Bogota.
Nice visit and surrounding views are worth it by themselves.
Lots of up and down walking.

The church itself is attractively simple, with alcoves for prayer and solid pews inside. While not spectacular or novel in design, there was a mass occurring during my visit so it is a functional religious center.
The best part of the trip was the view of the city. Particularly at sunset, the various lights of buildings and the view from that height was exceptional. There was a long line of visitors, but it moved relatively quickly (maybe every 15 minutes a group of 20 or so people would head up the mountain).
Unless I planned to attend a mass, I'm not sure that I would visit the church multiple times. Once is a must.

A beautiful chuch this one on top of the mountain overlooking Bogota. You can access by funicular, cablecar or by the long stepped camino.
The church on top commands mesmerising views but it's a beautiful building in itself too.
One of the highlights of any trip to Bogota in my opinion. Watch out for the striking statuary on the stations of the cross on the final few steps up to the plaza in front of the church.

Sweet little church at the top of Monserrate. It didn't seem like it had anything much more different to it than other churches in the city other than it was at the top of the mountain and had great views. But that's no reason to go to the actual church. The church is just there.

I had expected a lot more from this iconic church. It's spoilt by crazy lights and tacky figures. There's not much to see and the whole area is overrun by shops, restaurants, touts, people people people.

What a view!
You can climb up to get to the church or get the bus or cable car.
Bus and cable car are paid.
On the top you can see Bogota and it's def worth.
I was surprised by a heavy rain while I was there.
It's difficult to get taxi or uber around.

I live in Medellin but travel extensively on road trips throughout Colombia and now find myself in Bogota so as usual I want to visit Monserrate, a place that I have been to 6 or 7 times in the past 30 years as my first visit to Bogota and the top of Monserrate was in December of 1990.
My visit yesterday was good as I was fortunate to have clear skies.
I recommend a visit as a must-see as it will be memorable as it has been with me for 30 years now.
Enjoy the church and the views.

Qual o horário das missas aos domingos ?
Edson Lima O
Sao Paulo, SP20 contributions
Bom passeio.
