Stunning multi level waterfall that is straight from a Jurassic Park film. Just awesome! Easy to get to from the city with road side cafes but without any coffee. There is a small museum on site with a 12,000 peso ($3) entry fee with great veranda views, toilets and great coffee! Visited on a Sunday and it was heaving with people on the roadside but the museum was pretty empty.

Beautiful old house that used to be a castle, hotel, restaurant and now a museum..
So many stories but actually they said that are only rumors that the house is haunted .. very interesting.

I really wanted to do something that was “off the beaten path” but was also low maintenance enough to where I can do it in half a day. After scouring internet forums, I decided to check out Tequendama Falls which was a waterfall about 18 miles south of Bogota. Although, it was only a 70k COP ($18 USD) Uber ride, I took the more adventurous route and paid 7k COP ($2.25 COP) for a local bus. I was initially nervous because I was the only passenger on the bus and it initially didn’t start as it took 6 people to push out of the Salitre terminal parking lot. In addition, the ride was agonizingly slow as the driver literally went 5 mph until the bus was filled to capacity. After about 2 hours, I had to tell the driver to let me off next to an old hotel on the side of the highway as he really didn’t have any intentions on stopping. There was a wonderful view of the waterfall from next to the hotel but the smell was pretty bad given the contamination of the water. In addition, there are several local street food vendors that literally sell the same thing (sausage, arepas, and corn pancakes) for the same prices. I bought and arepa (which tasted like a McGriddle) and a sausage (which looked better than it tasted) for about 6K COP ($1.75 USD). Because it was the weekend, the hotel was open for tourists. I bought a ticket for 9K COP ($2.75 USD) and took part in a tour of the hotel. The tour was in Spanish and ended up being a presentation on the preservation of the Bogota River and the dangers of climate change. I was a little disappointed because the hotel itself was billed as being “haunted” and I would have liked to hear more of the story behind that designation. We also weren’t allowed to take pictures inside of the hotel which I really didn’t understand. In the end, the view of the waterfall is great but only did the tour of the hotel because it was cheap and it took a lot of work to get to the site.

Fortunately we were on our way to Ibague and stopped off to see the falls, as others have reported there is a nasty smell from the river but dont let that put you off the scenery is outstanding. We saw the building which was a hotel and currently being converted to a museum BUT the falls were shrouded in mist and we could only hear them. we were told its often like that but the food sellers had a large variety of hot Colombian food so I recommend you visit and hopefully on a good day. We will go again as we spend half the year in this wonderful country.

It was nice but with all the traffic and such in Colombia, it wasn’t worth the hassle and time to see it. You can’t get close to it like a normal waterfall, so you can only see up high. I wouldn’t go out of my way for it, especially when it can be foggy at anytime so you might not even get to see much.

This place is really great to go see, the only problem which for me was a huge letdown is the terrible smell the water emanates. It just takes all the beauty away from the place. The house on the hill top was turned into a museum which is pretty cool, because the explain everything about this place and why the waterfall smells so bad. There is very limited parking which also makes it hard for the people going by car, but you could park in the street up ahead. This place is very near Bogota, about an hour away more or less, and despite the smell it has a very nice history and view that are worth the trip.

Lovely place where you can see the nature. There is contamination but local people is working on to make it better. Great ecological work. Beautiful old house that used to be a castle. So much history!

Parking is limited, but most people just pull off the side of the road. There are lots of cool roadside eateries set up all along the highway. The view is really remarkable, and there are great views from multiple points besides the main hotel vista. The hotel is now a museum; I didn't pay the entry fee, so I can't vouch for its quality. The falls are sometimes obscured by heavy mist, and the quality of the view depends a lot on the weather. During dry season the falls aren't that spectacular although the view from the cliff is still pretty cool. During the wet season, if you go while it's raining, it's worth waiting out the storm to see a large cascade without all the mist. The climate changes rapidly here, so wait and see what you can see. Bring binoculars! And an umbrella.

It is a natural waterfall , to go to it should go around an hour from the city of Bogota , it has a Mirardor which is a historic hotel located in remodeling, and from the viewpoint 's fall looks Water. This is a walk to get there and back
