There was just a hall whose walls were lined with information that is extremely comprehensive. Basically summarizes what Islam stands for and this is what is needed to dispel misconceptions of Islam. There was also a guide who approached us to ask if we wanted to know more of Qatari culture so he brought us to a "majlis" area where... More

They were so welcoming and open to a wide variety of questions; I felt respected by the sincerity of our hosts and the honesty of their answers. Some in my group felt they were proslatizing too much, but that's the purpose of their center, so I didn't mind and actually felt like it was a refreshingly candid exchange.

Fanar is the cultural organization in Doha, the capital of Qatar. It is located close to Doha Corniche and is a prominent landmark in the city. The center's most distinguished feature is its mosque which has a unique minaret design. Prior to 2009, Fanar's mosque was the largest in the country. It has since been over taken in this category... This is just across the road from the Souk Waqif so it's worth dropping in. It's free and you'll see a small exhibit on Islam which is interesting. We were welcomed with tea or coffee and someone comes over to help and talk about the exhibit if you'd like. We declined as we wanted to go at our own pace.... More

An interesting and inspiring building, it really stands out. Inside it's more a religious centre than a cultural one. The ground floor has a few walls with posters explaining religious beliefs. Beyond that it's a mosque. The whole visit took 30 minutes.

💚 I've seen this Spiral Mosque many times before... but I was surprised that this place is a museum and open for public also.. As I explore these marvelous place, a warm smile welcomed me, and gladly gave me a book about Islam.. Looking forward to visit this place once again...☺️

My wife and I visited the cultural centre earlier and were made to feel very welcome by the staff, even compared to the high standard of service in Qatar. The ground floor exhibit was informative and interesting. The only difficulty we had was finding the entrance initially, but once we found it, we had no problems.
