This is an old market in heart of Muscat region, opposite the port. Highly recommended to visit it for the reason that it's a spectacular place with traditional shops, decoration and food.

The souq has amazing items, plenty of beautiful souvenirs and gifts... But the sales people in front of every "store" won't let you look, browse, think or even breath without trying to get you inside, and sell you things and sometimes even screaming. That makes...More

Nostalgia for all the old markets in other parts of the Middle East that have either been demolished and rebuilt as themed shopping areas or fallen into disrepair always leads me to Mutrah when in Muscat. Yes I know it is filled with old tat...More

Compared to the souks in Marrakesh, this was quite a pleasant experience. Stall holders were not at all pushy and open to some severe good natured haggling. Overall, a good place to while away an hour or so

We visited the Mutrah Souq in January. This is a must if you go to Oman. Very busy, lots to see and buy. My husband particularly liked bartering and had lots of fun. We found it very exciting and would recommend visiting when in Muscat.

A good souk with the usual offerings. The bonus with this one is the traders are not in your face trying to sell you their stuff as in other middle eastern souks. Yes they talk to you but not in an aggressive way. Good local...More

We took the complimentary bus from our hotel to the souq. The smell of frankincense as we walked along was just so inviting. Such beautiful combinations...we found ourselves stopping every second just to take it in. The shops are full of lovely little antiques, lovely...More

It s a typical souq similar to the bazaars you see in turkey and other similar destinations. It is not cheap, depending on what you are looking for. Alot of places that sell incense and frankincense so the smell can be overwhelming. Also lots of...More

Muscat in July is hot, very hot The souq is in the shade, but it is still hot inside. You can visit if you stay less than 30 minutes and make stops in some of the shops that have AC
