At just over 2000 meter. Jebel Shams Resort is ideally situated a few minutes walk from the famous "Grand Canyon of Oman" and a visit to us on Oman's highest Mountain at approximately 3000 Meter is great place from which to enjoy the mountain. A warm welcome is ready for all those weary adventurers who visit it. Enjoy a perfect starry night sky outside one of our Arabic Rents or Chalets and enjoy a warming campfire at night. During the day there are lots of lovely walks and treks to suit all levels of fitness. For those who want to just relax then there is a swimming pool and lovely views of the surrounding stunning mountain vista.

We went with a private tour, our super guide, Said Enkan from Wild East Oman. He knows where to go and where are best spots for pictures. We stopped for a lunch picnic on the Cliffside, that was absolutely amazing!

Pro Ancient villages hidden in this mountain. Misfat al Abreyeen is a 100000% must-see. You can hike from some villages to the next village but safer to drive if it's very hot out since it can be difficult to find a store selling water in some of the smaller villages during prayer time. Con Experienced driver required -- other drivers... More

The Grand Canyon of Oman is truly amazing. There is 10 km off road, but you can definitely get to the top using 2 wheelers (big car is recommended). The view is amazing, there are many view point but my favorite is the one close to the school. The balcony walk will take you around 3 hours roundtrip. If you... More

Been to Jebel Al Shams on early December. It was absolutely fantastic drive from Abu Dhabi to Jebel Al Shams. I went all the way up with my AWD sedan without any hick ups. But in rainy season, 4 Wheel drive is a must.

This mountain located in northeastern Oman north of Al Hamra town. It is the highest mountain in the country and part of Al Hajar Mountains range. It is a popular sightseeing area located 240 km from Muscat. Also, you need a proper 4*4 vehicle for go through the journey. No public toilets. or water supply. Hence you have to bring... More

Visited the place during national day holiday in UAE. Spent a long day at Al Ain border post waiting to get visa, due to which we got late to arrive on the top of mountain. Half of the road in beginning was developed, where the next half was under construction. It was thrilling to drive in the night on the... More

We had planned to stay at the campsite, but it got quite dark as we were driving so we chose a safe spot to park and sleep. In the morning we walked around to enjoy the view. Stopped off for a drink and to use the toilets at the campsite before continuing around the corner to see the canyon. The... More

We camped at the mountains, watched the Omans Grand Canyon. Half way up you will get on to the Mud & rocky roads. Dusty drive. The temperature drops down to half as compared to the base temperature. Lot of views, SUV a must, dangerous curves, uphill & descend got to be careful there. No food n drinks available, better stock... More

We did it!!! After 18 months in Oman, we bought the tent and sunshade, packed the bbq, food/water/drinks, mattresses, lights, the dog and the kitchen sink!!! Took 2 hours to pack up the car before we were off. A dutch friend who was there the week before had given us directions, which brought us the the flat plains on top... More

Started the trail in the village of Khitayam. We hiked about an hour and half mostly descending so it was quick & we made a lot of progress. We stopped at the waterfall cos we knew if we went any further it would be dark on our return & we didn't carry our lights. The views are stunning all around.... More
