For any lover of archeology and history, this museum is compulsory. The challenge for Lebanon is, of course, that there is so extremely much of it! Any time era would have warranted a museum of its own. This one is nevertheless beautifully made, a high-class...More

The museum is certainly a must visit if you really want to understand Lebanon's history. The short documentary at the beginning gives the visitor an idea of what Lebanon's rich and troubled history is like, also through what the museum suffered throughout. The exhibition is...More

A cut above the average museum visit because of the historical artifacts most over several thousand years old. And a very open, well lit and well arranged museum. The original curator protected the large icons during the civil war by encasing them in concrete. The...More

Really interesting museum. Not too much so no chance of the dreaded museum boredom. Also wonderful to see how the artifacts were inventively protected during the war.

It could be improved in a much better way. It took maximum an hour to tour both floors of the museum , interesting but not really worth it.

The museum has a representative exposition of works of art, waepons, jewels, artifacts and so on, from all peoples who have passed through the Lebanon in past millennia and left their traces. Captions in Arabic, French and English.

well presented museum, with only the truly best artifacts being presented, so it is not overwhelming with information or stuff, does not become boring, yet gives great idea of history of Lebanon for the last couple of thousands of years.

Beautiful building with many histories from the sad times of the war, which left permanent scars in the city and in this museum. Very old and interesting objects. There are some nice ladies eager to explain and answer to your questions.

Small museum in the heart of Beirut, at the exact spot which used to be the demarcation line's crossing point during the civil war. The collections are spread on 6th floors and covers the history of Lebanon, from Prehistory to roughly the 16th century. Thousands...More

I'm planning a trip to Beirut around New Years. Does anybody know if the Museum is closed both New Year's eve and New Years Day? The website only says it's closed on holidays but doesn't specify. If so is this the same for all museums in the city?

New Year's day is official holiday, no museum would be open on such a day. Good time to visit Lebanon.
Can one pay for an entrance ticket with a credit card?
