My friend and I decided that we visit all the historical places and museums in Kuwait to learn more about our country. Dickson's house was our start. It's a nice place but I'd loved if there was a guided tour instead of letting roam around in our own. But maybe because it's a relatively small place and aside from the furniture and photos there isn't much to talk about. Anyhow, it was a nice and somehow an informative trip and I'd recommend it for anyone who would like to know more about Kuwait's history.

We were just walking on our way to Souq Sharq when we stopped by this place on the Arabian Gulf Road, didnt knew what it was at first, however, when we enquired with the guard, he told us it was a museum of some sorts.
To start from the start... entrance hall area has two rooms dedicated to the history of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II since the day she was crowned back in 1950s...
Further when we proceeded to check out the house, we came to know about the Mrs. Dickson who used to live here and by the looks of it had made Kuwait her permanent home...
It was a kind of a journey that we took along with her starting from her experiences through 1920s until when she had to leave Kuwait due to Iraqi Invasion of 1990.
It was fascinating, and along the lines shows a lot of about old Kuwait before the Oil age or boom of economy of anything else... basically when the entire country was a desert.
A casual-visit became a one and a half hour journey in the Dickson House and I highly recommend it for History enthusiasts and people who want to learn more about old Kuwait or look into the life of Mrs. Dickson or as she was fondly called then Ummul Kuwait....

Maybe it was just our Guide, who was so rude and would not answer any questions and just kept on about himself.... but I wasnt the biggest fan of this place.
We came in and asked for an English speaking guide which was a mistake, this can easily be walked though in 30 minutes to an hour tops and we were trapped there for almost 2... The Dickson story is lovely but not 2 hours of lovely... The guide kept snapping at us "madam" any time we asked literally anything, he spoke down to the women in our group but not the men.... while annoying it made for an excellent inside joke later.
I suggest you stop by and see the history of Kuwait as a British territory and how Mr. Dickson dreamed about finding the original Kuwait oil well... But skip the guide.

An other visit
This time alone to see and observe
more and carefully
I did not see any difference
They should have staff to be in instead of the security officer

The place is great with history of Kuwait founder, but thing that i liked is the person(Guide) who provide information of this place step by step as we proceed further in that house.
