The museum was fun and informative illustration of Kuwaiti history and culture. There is artifact from the region dating back to the stone and bronze age. Also the heritage section has a mock up of am ancient Souk. See the way it is laid out and the descriptions of each shop with their purpose helped better understand the commercial and social settings of ancient Kuwait. I really enjoy it unfortunately the Planetarium and 2 other sections were closed for renovation, while I was there. Also they check my temperature and my COVID vaccination before allow me to enter. I was there 31Jul/Saturday and it opened at 1600.

1.5 hour visit. The museum has made significant investment in the building and the displays. Artifacts are interesting and well presented BUT the significant failing is for the curators to explain the exhibits and give more information about them. Worth a stop but could be vastly improved with very modest investment.

Visiting Kuwait National Museum is free. It consists of 3 parts: Failaka Island Hall, coins hall and traditional cultural hall. The first two is a bit small that can be covered in a few minutes. The cultural hall is a must seen part. All handicraft, boat carpenters, shop keepers, school teachers and students statues represent a wonderful era of ancient Kuwait. Pleasant visit and many photos.

what a huge mistake. This is THE WORST example of a national museum I've ever seen. It's a dusty building site with two rooms of VERY dull exhibits. All the ancient and modern culture, history that could have been displayed in this shambles just left me gasping at how awful this place is. Kuwait is wealthy country; economically, culturally and historically; none of that is represented in this embarrassment. it really is a monument to the amazing lack of development in this country

In an otherwise cultural wasteland, you think wealthy Kuwait will at least invest in a decent museum. The place is sad and is in serious need for repair...watch where you step if you visit.
I believe this place was damaged during the Iraqi invasion, but 20 years seems to be plenty of time to repair things. After all, malls have been nicely repaired. If only people in Kuwait appreciated their culture and heritage as much as they did shopping!.

For those looking for an outing and those who are interested in ancient architecture and history, the museum is definitely something that should not be missed.. While it may not Be on par with those in certain European countries, it should not be missed if you stop by in Kuwait and have a few days

This national museum displays the excavation done on the second largest island of kuwait known as Failaka and has lots of the findings that are preserved as well as those that we robbed or broken during the Iraqi invasion in 1990. More history, culture, traditions and heritage is also displayed. The museum is being renovated in parts but is still open for the public. It’s closed on Sunday but open during the other days in 2 shifts except on Friday where it’s only open in the evening. It’s quite a long walk inside and photography is allowed without flash. The best way to explore this place is through a local agent that we booked known as Orient Group DMC that had a professional guide that took us to other places as well.

Hard to find since there are no clear signs and it is located behind brick walls. Free and under construction. Staff are friendly who allowed me to put my heavy bag at the counter. Unlike other museums where there are staff for tours, there isn't any. I bumped into Mr Sultan - the Director of Antiquities who showed me the way. There is one brown booklet on the National Museum in English and Arabic ( entrance rack). The booklet dates back to 2003 so I don't think anyone has tried to re-write another new version....it has been 14 years. I do like the information though or else I wouldn't know...two major halls and there weren't any tourists...just me and the locals and some school kids.
