I recently visited Madaba and wandered into the Archaeological Park and was thoroughly impressed by what was here - ruins, Roman road, mosaics. I recommend this place with our reservation - it was wonderful.

We were lucky that our driver knew the staff on duty who sprayed the mosaics with water to show us the true colours. It was magical and as tourism is so depressed in Jordan at the moment we had the whole area to ourselves. We were really pleased to have seen these as the more famous "Map" left us a... More

Rather carelessly attended but stunning ruins -- in North America this would be a prime museum attraction in itself, with sell-out tickets. But here it's another pile of rocks and mosaics with pigeons all around, few guards or tourists, but some good explanatory signage (courtesy of USAID grant). Beautiful to wander through and imagine yourself two thousand years prior, walking... More

The amazing mosaics, the Church of Virgin Mary, the Hippolytus hall, crypt of prophet Elias, the Tree of Madaba, the Roman street! Spend time interpreting the Hippolytus hall Mosaic (the ancient mansion on which the Church of Virgin Mary was build). The Tree of Madaba (as different from the tree of life in Jericho) is the piece de resistance

Some of the archaeological works are presented with walkways and coverings, showing interesting mosaics and a fair bit of information. Not many visitors (and I couldn't see any ticket booth) but I still got someone screaming into their phone. One end of the Burnt Palace section dumps you in a mosaic shop.

The mosaic on floors and walls was so energising to the spirit . It was a great experience . Did not expect so many treasures there . Walking through the excavation site and the house where people lived till 1972 , probably not even aware of the historic significance of mosaic on their floor . I was quite caught up... More

We rented a car and drove it on our own. It was a nice day with plenty to keep us busy. The hand craft work shops have artists making the mosaics, amazing to see the time and energy spent. Lots of shops in the area, things are a bit pricey. Having a guide for this would be advised.

We had already seen many Madaba mosaics when we arrived here on our walking tour of Madaba which we had followed a bit randomly . we paid our 3JD entrance fees and then the guide came out of the ticket office and showed us the exhibits. We were the only tourists there so I don't know if he always does... More

To see the historical mosaics here was great, they really quite breath taking and are so well preserved, great if you like Greek history.
