Its the National Gallery... and it wasn't a lot of Jordan history on it. Two small building independents of each other, some collaboration for different countries, that was good. But nothing majestic. It quite far away from the centre, If you go I recommend you to go in taxi. Just if you have spare time, the staff don't speak english so... It was quite fun to understand them.

This place is such a haven. It is situated in a lovely calm part of Amman, surrounded by villas with gardens. The gallery is charming, featuring many Middle Eastern artists. Upper floor has a very cozy coffee shop and a study. You can sit on their balcony with a great view and sip delicious tea and just soak it all in. Unique place.

I highly recommend Jordan National gallery of fine arts. The gallery is comprises of 2 buildings and a beautiful sculpture park between them.
"Diva!" exhibition showing the glamour, beauty and uniqueness of Italian fashion jewellery(1950-2021), which transform every woman in a goddess. Happening now, until 26.02.2022, from 9 a. m - 5 p. m every day except Fridays, at a Building 2.
Building 1 is a host of contemporary African art from the permanent collectoin of the gallery now.
Also, the Jordan National gallery of fine arts represents Jordanian artists and the other Arabic countries artists. On the last floor of the Building 2 are library and books about art, design and architecture in different languages and cafe with terrace and great views- overlooking the garden of the gallery, blue-domed King Abdullah I Mosque and Abdali Boulevard.
Have in your mind, 1 ticket (7 JD for non Jordanian and 1JD for Jordanian) is valid for Building 1 and Building 2 in the same day visit. Fridays are day off.
Tip: Take a service taxi(white colour) for 0,50 JD per person near Hashem restaurant in Balad - downtown Amman to the gallery.
Jordan National gallery of fine arts - An oasis in Amman, window to the world, food for the soul 😀

It’s close to Al Abdali mall about 15-20 minutes walking. Area is full of different artists and paintings. Has sense of all what you need if you love are also with a nice cafe in the terrace. Very much recommend to visit both art galleries are opposite each other with a nice park.

There is so little to do in Amman that even average galleries like this one become a sought after place to visit. None of the cab drivers know these kind of places and GPS is a must. There are 2buildings across each other. Nothing spectacular but just quietly interesting.

No taxi driver knew the National Gallery of Contemporary Art or of Fine Arts! It was wonderful to find and to visit the beautifully set up galleries, with modern use of heritage buildings, and interesting contemporary works, some abstract others not, by Middle-Eastern or Asian artists. Admittedly there is little information about the artists. However, it was a real pleasure to experience art alive and well among the many historical sites Jordan has to offer.
To get there we went to King Abdullah Ist mosque, then followed the brown signage.

I like art galleries so I might be biased, but I really liked this art gallery. One reason might be that it was quite hard to find down the back-streets of central Amman, which maybe explains why it was practically empty throughout our visit - even the curator wasn't at his desk to issue our tickets when we arrived. It is also split between two buildings across a square, which is unexpected and kind of quirky.
Not being familiar with Middle Eastern art I did not know what to expect, but I loved the range of art-works from across the region - not only Jordan but also Palestine, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iraq, Turkey and elsewhere. Many paintings are aesthetically beautiful, while others illuminate aspects of culture (weddings, grieving, praying) and some are overtly political (the Intifada in Palestine, a photograph illustrating the oppression of women in Saudi Arabia).
For a transcendental experience in Amman, I would recommend a visit to the Fine Arts Gallery. It is well worth discovering.

This was a lovely experience. The exhibits are stunning. The building itself is in a quiet location adjacent to a small park. The museum has a cafe for you to enjoy coffee while you read some books they keep on hand...

I just want one more floor! It's very small. There's not much on the first floor and half of the third, top floor for exhibits is set aside for the gift shop and cafe.

All the same, I'd definitely go back and recommend that any art lover go. The collection highlights artists from the Middle East, North Africa, and even from India, Indonesia, and Bangladesh. I probably would never known about these artists if I hadn't visited this museum.

Realy enjoyed my visit here. Its not huge but gives a flavour of middle east art. I also crossed the road to see the other part but sadly the retrospective was shutting I saw some and wished I had gone sooner, it shut at 5pm as it was winter opening hours. Mohanna Durra was superb.

There are 2 buildings facing each other across a park. The 5 JOD entry ticket (which you will not receive) should grant you entry to both but they are not telling you if both buildings are open until you leave... the coffee shop on the 3rd floor has a nice terrace with view on King Abdullah’s mosque and their coffee specialties are tasty. Today I was lucky to see the museum shop open...
