A rock off the old port of Jaffa has been known as "Andromeda's Rock" since antiquity, identified with the myth of Andromeda and the Sea Monster by Pausanias, Strabo, and Josephus. Modern guides point to the small rock in the picture; I suspect that the ancient writers were referring to a larger rock that, though still visible, has been incorporated in modern times into the concrete sea wall. Either way, the references are another point to reflect upon as one gazes out on the very ancient harbor of Old Jaffa.

The two things that are unique about that rock are: first of all its amazing location close to jaffa port the other thing is the legend about it. In the other do not expect to see more than a small, nothing special, rock. But with a great view

Unless you read the signs along the paths you will not know much about this place , Old Jaffa Port, unless you did your homework. The signs explain the ancient port but now it is a remnant at best. The rock is small, the Israeli flag distorts the natural Beauty here but helps point out the rock ... Locals in Israel are not very friendly or care much to share their knowledge with you so do you homework . disappointing , and arrogant attitude is what I witnessed from locals I'm Israel. Not very warm.

We were expecting to see the beautiful Andromeda chained to the rock - as advertised - but she was nowhere. We asked at the nearby cafe bar (selling delicious pastries by the way) but the owner just gave me a funny look and went to serve another customer. Would not visit this rock again.

There's absolutely nothing to see here, rather than an un-unique shallow rock in the sea. But that's it.

I don't really know why the ancients dubbed this submerged rocky prominence as "Andromeda's Rock." Perhaps, methinks the ancients considered the rock outcropping, like women in general, to be beautiful yet dangerous... Actually, in mythological lore, it is reputed to have been the place from which Andromeda was rescued from the Kraken by Perseus (cue: Clash of the Titans movie score). The Kraken was a mythological sea monster, often represented as resembling an island, but sometimes as resembling an immense octopus.

The fisherman were rude, so don't ask which rock it is. It's the rock with a small pole and flag. There are multiple angles to see the rock.

These rocks are well - just rocks and not very impressive ones at that as you can barely see them above the waves!

YOu must have very good fantasy to like this "attraction" as it is simple a rock in the sea. If you don't know the story behind it, you even won't tka a closer look on it.
